So is Smirnoff Vodka gluten free? Or is Chopin the only gluten free vodka?

      Grover's Disease
I've been fighting this rash for about 2 years now. It came about a year before I realized I was gluten intolerant. It doesn't seem to be DH because it's never itched.

It was biopsied as Grover's but being that I'm a 45 year old female that's pretty uncommon. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Can you explain why the biopsy should be beside the lesion and not the actual lesion itself? I've been fighting a rash for three years now and they biopsied the lesion and told me it was Grover's Disease. It used to not ich but it's starting to. It goes away if I take Acutane. I've been gluten free for 6 months, but I'm sure I not as strike as I should be and I know I'm becoming more intolerant to gluten.

Heart Beating Very Hard After Eating Or Inhaling Gluten
I was recently admitted to the hopsital for test on my heart because it was beating VERY hard and I was out of breath in very little exertion (and I'm a triathlete). They couldn't find anything wrong. But last night I was mixing up some cookies (with wheat flour) and my heart started doing it again and I was breathless just trying to mix the dough and eat a corn chip. Has anyone had this happen to them. I've been gluten free for 6 months now and I have to admit I haven't been extremely carefull to find "hidden" gluten in items. Am I becoming more intolerant to it now that I'm not eating it? Or at least not eating very much of it.

Also, has anyone else had a rash that goes away with Acutane but keeps comming back when you stop taking Acutane? It was biopsied and they say it's Grover's disease. It didn't use to ich but is starting to.

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Sprouted Grains
I've just heard that sprouted grains do not have gluten. Does anyone know if this is true. I thought they did...but don't understand all the details. I know this bread says "flourless" but I thought it still had gluten. Does anyone understand what "sprouted grains" means?

    7. Sandyo added a post in a topic Enzyme To Help With Gluten, Casein, Soy, And Corn Digestion

I'm talking about Peptizyde™ from Houston Nutraceuticals.

      Here's the web site:

      or go to

Here's what they say on there web site:

Peptizyde™ (pronounced "Pep-ta-zyde") is a combination of three different proteolytic enzymes isolated from plant sources. Each enzyme has a unique set of peptide bonds it prefers to break, so the combination of these enzymes allows much more efficient means of quickly and thoroughly breaking down (hydrolyzing) proteins to its smaller components. The enzymes in Peptizyde™ work only on food proteins, not carbohydrates, fats, or other compounds, and do not interfere with medications or other supplements (unless they are also proteins, which is extremely unlikely). Peptizyde may be used in combination with other enzyme products.

The ability of Peptizyde™ enzymes to withstand the low pH of the stomach and remain active under acidic conditions allows hydrolysis of casein and gluten prior to entrance into the small intestine. Casein and gluten, in the presence of pancreatic enzymes in the duodenum, can break down into exorphin peptides that may be readily absorbed from the intestine (these peptides are not absorbed from the stomach). Peptizyde™ supplements the "normal" hydrolysis of casein, gluten, and other food proteins such that the exorphin peptides are not produced because the specific cleavage pattern to produce these peptides is altered.

This product will NOT allow celiac patients to go off a gluten-free diet.

      Each capsule of Peptizyde™ contains:
Peptidase (source of DPP IV)......62,500 HUT
      Protease..........................25,000 HUT
      Papain (sulfite-free)........2,000,000 FCCPU
Rice Bran (gluten-free)...........appx 35 mg (IN ORIGINAL FORMULA)
Cellulose and MCT Oil (IN SCD VERSIONS)

I tested negative on the blood test for Celiac Disease....but positive (although not that high 12 with less than 12 being normal) on the stool test for senstivity for gluten. I haven't had a biopsy do I don't know if I have damage to my intestine or not. Would this be just for autistic children so that gluten and casein doesn't effect their behavior? Maybe it doesn stop intestinal damage if you are intolerant to it?

What do you guys think about this??

Enzyme To Help With Gluten, Casein, Soy, And Corn Digestion
I have a friend with an Autistic child and they say these enzyme tablets allow her to eat gluten and casein. Have any of you guys tried them or know anything about them? I do not have Celiac just intolerance. I'm wondering if I could take these enzymes and be able to eat gluten? I get bloating, constipations and stomach cramps......don't know if I have any intestinal damage. I'm gluten free now for about a month and a half. Feeling better...but it's a pain in the you know what. Maybe these might help for an occasional treat of gluten???? What do you guys know about this????

It's probably because I haven't really found any "good" tasting gluten-free foods yet. He'll eat it if that's the only thing I make but he'll pick something with gluten over gluten-free anyday. But, it is very respectful to not eat some of the naturally gluten-free foods I have purchased if he knows that's all I have to eat. Overall, he's just a great husband. My 18 year old is never know kids at that it's not really an issue but he doesn't touch anything on my shelf.

Tell me what these great tasting cookies are......cause the ones I've tried aren't worth the calories!!

Thanks everyone!! Some great ideas. I like the idea of keeping a list of the stuff I thought was gross!! I had a brownie mix first thing that was so bad!!! But then I had a chocolate cake that was very good. So I knew there was hope. I have adopted the shelf idea and my husband and son are very good about not eating "my stuff". I don't think I'm doing a good job of finding the hidden gluten yet...but hopefully, I'll get there. BTW, what about Marshmallows? If it has modified food starch do I always have to call the company?? And I thought Maltodextrin had gluten? Does it?

      Thanks are sooo helpful!!

Helpfull Tips On How To Remember What Is And Isn't gluten-free, Please!
What is the best way it remember all the foods that are gluten free and not gluten free. How do you all do it?

I'm at the store and I can't remember if it's safe or not. I've been trying to be gluten-free for a month now and I'm learning a lot......but there's got to be an easier way than reading every single list of ingredients on every product every time I go to the store. And what about the hidden gluten. I thought Maltodextrin had gluten in it...but a post I read today said it didn't.

I'm sooooo confused. Any suggestions on how you guys keep it straight would be helpful!!! Thanks

    14. Sandyo added a post in a topic Breast Implants And Celiac Disease

I had implant a year ago in September. I was just diagnosed through a stool sample at Enterolab with Gluten Sensitivity...but neg on the blood test for Celiac. I'm just starting my gluten free diet. I have wondered if there were any connections between the two. Also I have just been diagnosed with Grover's Disease, which is a skin rash of sorts....where at a microscopic level my cells are breaking apart. Hard to tell the difference between Grovers and Acne. This is supposed to be transient but I've had it for over a year now and have already taken Accutane for 5 months and it came right back. I'm going on Accutane again today.

So while I'm happy with my breast implants...although I'm a athlete and they are diffently harder than real breast so it's not a comfortable sleeping. I'm only now feeling only the hardness when I lay on them and not uncomfortable pain.

I've wondered about the connection between these three things. I don't have any answers. The doctors have told me there is no connection and that this rash is not DH and did not result from the implants.

At this point I don't know if I would have bothered to get them if I would have known all this was going to happen. I'm turning 45 in a couple of weeks. Maybe it just old age

I don't know if this helps you....but I thought I'd respond as you might not get much feedback due to lack of people having Celiac and breast implants.

Good luck in your decision. I wish you the best.

    15. Sandyo added a post in a topic How Bad Is Wheat In Shampoo?

I'm just beginning to sort out if I'm gluten intolerant. But speaking of rashes, I've had one in my scalp, forehead, checks, neck, chest and upper back that my Dermatologist doesn't know what it is. Thought it was acne and I tolk Acutane. It went away but came back as soon as I went off it. Of course I didn't know about gluten at the time. I've been gluten free for about 2 weeks now and I think it's getting better. It doesn't itch, but I can scratch little grains of sand like "things" off my skin. Does this sound like the rashes you guys are talking about? I haven't checked my shampoo and conditioner but I will now. Please let me know...I have to get rid of this rash. Summer is comming and it looks nasty. Thanks for your comments.
