There are Ulta stores too, I have one right near my house. It was the first place I was able to find Bare Essentuals until a Sephora opened last summer. They have a great selection!

I love Starbucks!! Last time I checked everything was gluten-free (except like CarlaB said the malted ones and they have a brownie frap that actually has brownie pieces in it). That being said if you want to order a frap, they suggest you ask the barista to really wash out the blender because a lot of times they just kind of rinse them, thus posing the risk of CC.

I ordered the sampler pack a week or so ago and it was a flat rate of $3.99. I ordered it on Monday and got it on Thursday...I thought that was pretty quick! Most of their stuff seems pretty good so far. The shampoo is hard to get used to since, like they said above, it does not really foam.

      The shea butter is AWESOME!!!

      Ursula and Ravenwoodglass -

Thanks so much for the replies! I guess I'll look into meeting with a homeopathic doctor or a nutritionist next!

    6. LaurieAnn13 added a post in a topic Have You Seen Dental Enamel Defects From Celiac?

I work at a dentist's office, and in the past two years I have seen about three patients with celiac disease, none of whom have had significantly bad dental problems. I have always had really good teeth also (knock on wood!)and I was not diagnosed until I was 21.

But as we all know, this disease affects everyone different so you never know.

I agree, it can't hurt to have her follow the gluten-free diet, seems like her chances are pretty good of having it since at least several of your other children have it. Good luck getting it figured out!!!

There are some types of Science Diet that are prescription and are only available from a vet. Regular Science Diet foods are available at PetSmart and PetCo....

I say at least it's publicity, something that may get people thinking. The way I see it, most jokes have the potential to offend someone. It's not really any different than a blonde joke or a gender joke.

Although I have not been there personally, I have heard about a gluten-free chinese restaurant in Nederland, which is right in that area. Also, there is an ice cream place on Pearl Street (in Boulder) that has gluten-free ice cream. Have not been there either (and don't know the names either, sorry!!!!), but I had a friend who lived up there and highly recommended both. I'll see if I can dig up the names for you sometime today or tomorrow.

Getting a little bit off the subject, does anyone know about good cat foods that are gluten-free? I guess I'll check out that web site too and see if he has any on there....

    12. LaurieAnn13 added a post in a topic Dasani

I think dasani water tastes weird so I do not really ever drink it (I'm very picky about water, yeah, I know, I'm weird!) But, I think it is awesome that you wrote them!! I think it would be so cool if we all saturated the market with letters to tons of companies. I think this would get the point across to some stubborn companies so they would finally realize how important it is for them to know (and care) about the ingredients of their products!

      Keep us posted!

    13. LaurieAnn13 added a post in a topic Depression

I also suffer from depression when I ingest gluten. I suffered horribly from it before I was diagnosed with celiac. Within a year of going gluten-free, I was able to stop all my meds and have not had a problem since (except when I get glutened, of course; and then it's pretty mild, comparatively).

Kristen - I can certainly relate to what you are going through. A few months ago I started having migraines again after five years of being gluten-free with no problems. I started taking a closer look at what I had been eating and found out that there was a seasoning that I was using that has gluten in it! I don't know how that happened because usually I am soooooo careful. It just showed me that I was getting a little lax about my diet when I really need to stay adamant about checking and RE-checking ingredients all the time! Also, I had never been too worried about using gluten-free soap/shampoo, stuff like that, but from now on, that's all I'm going to use! I just ordered a bunch of stuff from the and can't wait to get it.

Also, if you are taking a lot of advil and such, I read a study that said taking those types of meds can actually CAUSE headaches when taken over long periods of time, so perhaps this is ADDING to your symptoms??? Who knows...maybe something to look into...

Good luck, I hope you start to feel better soon!

Ursula - how were you able to figure this out? Did you happen to do an elimation diet? I have been wanting to try doing this, but don't know where to get reliable information on how to do so. If this is what you did, could you tell me where you got the info to do it?

I would agree, if you seem to be benefiting from the gluten-free diet then stay with it. Your body is your best indicator. A problem I've run into is how some doctors really aren't that educated when it comes to celiac disease. After all, look at EVERYTHING that can go wrong with the human body...doctors are only human, they can't know everything about everything! I've had doctors tell me that I don't need to completely cut it out of my diet and if I take a prescription that contains gluten, it's not really a big deal. Well, we all know that is not true! Also, celiac is such an "individual disease." I have had friends diagnosed with no other symptoms than blisters on their hands, or because they were told they had ADD and decided to seach out another explanation than accept that diagnosis. One of my many symptoms was a skin condition that no dermatologist could diagnose. I always got these big, circular, deep sores on my skin that would not go away for weeks, if not months at a time! Well, guess what...when I started the gluten-free diet, the sores went away! Unfortunately, I still have many scars from it that may never go away, but at least the sores did!! So if you have a rash that disappears with this diet, I say keep it up... Especially because no matter how knowledgable your physician is, medicine is in and of itself imperfect.

      Good luck!
