  1. If anyone would like to review my presentation and give me feed back you can find it at: Thanks!
  2. What types of allegies do you have (If you don't mind me asking). The first thing my web page will do is to eliminate all recipes based on your specific allergy. So far I have Soy, Gluten, Corn, Peanuts, Treenuts, Lactose, Egg, Nitrates, Sulfites. What else should I include? I did not specifically include shellfish or fish since the second part of my search will be to include various things, such as beef, tomatos, etc. Right now this is still conceptual but I am closer to getting a basic site up and running. Thanks!
  3. Hi my name is Janine and I am currently finishing up my college degree (at the age of 45!!). For my senior project I decided to create a web page that allows people with food allergies/intolerances to find recipes easily based on their specific needs. The basic idea is to select items you want to avoid, then select the items you want to include. For example, you have on hand chicken breasts, tomatoes, etc but you only want to see recipes that exclude gluten, eggs, and lactose. The search engine will then bring up only those recipes for your needs. My questions are: Would you find this web site to be helpful for you? Do you have any recipes that you would like to share with me? If so how would you like to me give credit for the recipe (your first name, alias, or not at all)? Would you be will to review my proposal and give me feed back that I can turn into my instructor? Do you have any suggestions for this web site? Thank you so much for anything you would like to share with me!!
  4. I am not very knowledgable on this subject but you may want to check out the federal HIPAA regulations. It covers a persons privacy in regards to their medical conditions. That teacher may be inviolation and can be fined if guilty. I would take it to the superintendent, human resources department head, and the board. Be aware, though, that anything you say in a board meeting is public knowledge and can be printed in the paper, etc. Oh, and make sure all conversations are followed up in writing. I heard one administrator say that they can not do anything unless it is in writing. And if all else fails you can take it to the local paper. School districts DO NOT want any negative publicity. Remember that public schools are held under very strict federal regulations and can lose federal funding and grant money if they do not comply. Also call the head of the food services dept or business department. Alot of the food program is either federally funded or state funded. Another resource could be the special education dept. They are used to dealing with students with needs and should know the law very well. I hope this helps!
  5. I had a colonoscopy and everything came back normal. Jhmom, I am really curious since I think my tenormin might be a huge problem. It is listed as a drug that can cause drug induced lupus. I started getting joint pain, leg cramps, etc. I asked my pc and she says, get this, "Those are not symptoms of lupus". She doubles my medication and I was so sick I could not leave the house. She also keeps telling me it is just IBS and won't refer me to another GI. Needless to say I am looking for two new doctors. I am tempted to ask my gyn to be my primary care since she is the ONLY one who will even try to treat me and she can refer to me some one else. Thank goodness for this board. Sometimes just venting can make you feel better!
  6. I have been having problems for about 1 1/2 years. It seemed to come on suddenly and about the same time my doctor switched my blood pressure meds. The diarrhea got so severe the only thing that helped was a huge dose of flagyl. I was fine for a month. My GI runs every test in the book. Evidently I am a very healthy person! I am by this time so ill I am losing weight and missing alot of work. He runs a IGG, IGA panel and everything is normal but IGG is 34. He does a biopsy (2) and they come back negative but I have GERD, hiatal hernia. He tells me it is not celiac. Now I have diarrhea at least 12 times a day. I have sweats and can not walk because of the pain. I have a CT scan, normal except for very small fibroids (I am 42). My gyn says it is normal but gives me flagyl for 20 days because she can see I have an infection. I feel good for about 2 months. I called the GIs office and they tell me, over the phone by a nurse that I am borderline celiac and give me a prescription to a dietian. Now my blood pressure starts to rise and my PC doctor doubles my beta blockers. I was so ill I insisted they switch me to something else. Now I am on a medication that does not have diarrhea as a side effect. I tried to eat some crackers, bread, etc. No reaction. I went back to my GI and he basically shrugged his shoulders, says he thinks it might be bacterial overgrowth and come back in a year. Oh and don't take any more antibiotics. I really do not know what to do. I felt fine until last night. I was gluten free for 3 months with problems now not gluten-free and problems but less. I know no one can give me medical advise but I am so frustrated. This is the time of my life when I should be traveling to exotic places and having so much fun but I can not even go to a dinner party without the fear of "it" happening.
  7. Good luck on your surgery, I hope you feel better soon. I am curious, I have the same pain and have had an ultrasound and ct scan which are normal. I have not had a biliary scan though. The pain always accompanies diarrhea and the sensitive spot in my back is painful to touch. I sat in one of those massaging chairs and when it hit there I was in pain. The doctor shrugged it off but I am not quite convinced
  8. I had a nasty reaction to what I thought was a safe sauce. I would check and make sure it is on the "safe" list. Amys is good, I ate the whole thing by myself!
  9. I am in the midst of the same thing. I was taking atenolol and I kept telling the doctor it was making me sick. Of course they said no, its not the medicine. My blood pressure was rising so she doubled it! After two days I refused to take it anymore (I know not the right way) but my blood pressure was higher, severe diarrhea, heart palpitations, dizzy, etc. I am now trying lotensin. I can't way anything yet since I have only been on it for about 4 days now
  10. Oh, thanks. I am pretty sure I know what "agenda" they have. It is pretty sad to do that here, people who have a serious illness and need support.
  11. Excuse me for being ignorant but what is a troll?
  12. Hum, is that something like the Weekly World News? BTW, that article comes from PETA, not quite an unbiased source
  13. I did not have a whole lot of trouble with morning sickness but I had alot of trouble during the last trimester ( my son is now 16). I went into labor at 7 months, had preeclampsia, high blood pressure, etc. I was bed ridden for 3 months and that was my only pregnancy. I was jealous of my friends who had effortless pregnancies. The good thing is I had a very healthy late 10 lb baby boy!
  14. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. I think just feeling ill so much can cause depression. I am having a hard time fighting it. About your back pain, have you had test for others things to rule out? I have a hiatal hernia and GERD which causes me back spasms sometimes. I think my whole digestive system is a mess. I also get right shoulder pain which is why I am convinced I have something else going on such as pancreatitis or gallbladder, been to an orthopedic surgeon, mri etc. As far as food goes I try to keep certain canned foods on hand. gluten-free fat free chicken broth, canned veggies, canned tomatoes, etc for a quick and healthy soup. I buy bulk rice and potatos. Canned beans, hamburger in the freezer or turkey for a quick chili. I hope this helps!
  15. Celiac3270's Endo

    Good luck celiac3270 and Stacie!
