  1. GRRRRR,,,, That's what I thought. I had been wanting the DNA test. Will a DNA test thru another lab be OK?? thanks!
  2. My neurologist thinks my small fiber neuropathy is either from Sjogren's (which I have) or from celiac disease. I've been tested for it before (30 yrs ago) but they missed it. I figured it out on my own about 6 yrs ago and have been gluten free ever since. However, if I am truly a celiac, I will be even MORE VIGILANT than I already am. These are the tests he ordered: Transglutaminase IgG Anti-Gliadin AB Will these be pretty definitive?? Even if I haven't been eating gluten?? THANKS!!!!
  3. Just need to know if baking powder is safe!! Can't find it on the list.
  4. I'm sorry to post here.... I haven't been on this site for a few years. I need to know if baking powder is gluten free. I could not find it on the gluten free list on this site. Thanks so much .. and tell me how to begin a new topic please so I won't bother anyone next time!!
  5. Be careful when ordering rice at a restaurant. I have found out that in many places, gluten is in the rice. Dont' ask me why or how... it just IS!! I found out when ordering a meal at an Outback restaurant. I wanted a certain dish with rice and then mentioned the gluten issue. They said here is our gluten free menu. Well, on the menu the rice was NOT listed as safe. I asked why not and the waitress said the rice contained gluten. Aha!! No wonder I've gotten ill in other restaurants when ordering rice! No more!!
  6. So it's kinda like the biopsy. If I haven't been ingesting very much gluten, it's likely to come back negative? That's what happened to me when I had the biopsy years ago. I already knew I was "allergic" to wheat and had been avoiding it for the most part....but I didn't understand about gluten back then. The one test that came back positive for gluten was a saliva test for cortisol. It showed high gliadin antibodies. Anything over 15 was high and mine was 66. It says "Positive AGA or elevated AGA antibodies MAY not necessarily imply celiac disease state, but a subclinical mucotoxic reaction. Healthy adults and children may show positive antibodies to Gliadin."
  7. Yes, my car went over the cliff allright! Thanks. So, the only thing I can do is be more careful with my diet?? What about the blood test? If it comes back positive, then I'd know??
  8. Ugh... They can't tell me if I'm celiac or not?? That STINKS!!!! So the only way is thru the biopsy?? .. which I refuse to do... Hi Rachel and Momma Goose!!!!!!
  9. Hey gang! It's been quite awhile since I've been here. I never REALLY had a definitive test for celiac disease... I don't think. I dont know if I'm a true celiac or gluten intolerant. I have been less than careful about my diet when eating out, etc. I think I'm suffering from celiac symptoms again. I don't get deathly ill from ingesting gluten... it's more subtle. I've been having trouble with what was thought to have been a stone in my bile duct and I just found out there is no longer one there. I've been having dizziness, fatigue, and stomach pains [stomach, not intestines]. I lost about 25 lbs over the past 6 months. So... if i get tested thru Enterolab, is there any chance it will be covered by insurance?? I need to find out if I'm a true celiac or not.
  10. The gallbladder comes to mind.
  11. Count me in! UGH! Dairy gives me the C does gluten. I take magnesium, stool softeners without a stimulant, slippery elm, and chlorophyll. I also take a fiber supplement when I can get myself to drink it!! I think it's time to do another colon cleanse!!
  12. Yes, the American manufacturers got it passed by saying it will help prevent Listeria infections. I believe they have added this to lunchmeats also!!
