so the other day I was reading a magazine, and you know how they always have the newest horrible illness or some horrific accident or in most girl magazines anyways the newest diet, well I was thinking wouldn't it be great if they ran an article on celiac disease - you know spread the word a little .
So what do you guys think about a little letter writing? I was thinking everyone could consider sending in a letter/email to their favorite magazine (Seventeen, People, Cosmo etc..) about how they should consider writing an article on celiac disease.
Anyways tell me what you guys think about this idea??
here is my fav. gluten story....
I was at my friends house and there were about 5 of us, so my friend heated up some chicken nuggets (which of course i cant eat), so i tell her that i'll just have an apple or something cause there's wheat in the chicken nuggets. She looks at me completely seriously and says, "no there isnt." So we look at the ingredients and yes there is wheat in it. So my friend says, "Oh well you can just peel off the breaded coating, right?" It took me awhile to explain to her why i couldnt eat the chicken nuggets even if i did peel off the coating.
Help am out of ideas!
Lately I have been getting really bored of the usual dishes I eat and I would be so grateful if anyone has some quick and easy gluten free and dairy free meal ideas and recipes.
Everyone has really good ideas for lunches I think I'm going to try out a couple. Anyway for lunch I usually bring a brown rice tortilla wrap by Foods For Life, and you can put just about anything in the wraps and it usually stay together pretty well. I also bring cut up veggies and fruits, I also pack some pecans and almonds. I have found that these are really easy to make in the morning and look normal.
Good Luck with everything
I know how you feel. When i first went to restaurants with my friends and had to order differently it was so embarassing and i hated doing it, but after a while you get used to it. A few things I have found that i love are Brown Rice tortillas from Foods For Life, I use them for sandwhiches, Pamelas cookies, also you said you're missing pizza, Amy's makes a great gluten-free pizza that i love. Hope it helps.
Good Luck with everything!
My name's Rachael, in case you couldn't guess from my screen name
I am also 15 and i only just recently joined. I have been completely gluten free for only about 2 months but my mom's been gluten free for a long time. Well i guess thats it, oh and my AIM is Raquelita91 so feel free to IM me.
I have only been gluten free for about 2 months but my mom has been gluten free for a couple of years, and i recently decided to go gluten free with her after being diagnosed with gluten sensitivity.
There's a lot of rly good gluten free food out there, there's Amy's pizza ( though if your off diary you can't have this), Whole Foods Sandwhich bread, and the Gluten Free Pantry mixes, i even found a gluten, dairy, yeast free Falafel mix by Orgran (which i had today and is rly good).
Good luck with the gluten free diet, and dont worry it gets easier.
