Prednisone Contains Gluten

Hello! This is my first time to post but I have read many posts from other members and they have proved to be helpful. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2009 and have been following a gluten free diet since my initial diagnosis. Right before Christmas, I had an awful week of diarrhea without other symptoms. Now I never had diarrhea before the diagnosis since my predominant problem was constipation. Since the "spell" before Christmas, I have not felt well and my stomach continues to hurt off and on. I had another colonoscopy which was fine and my GI doctor ran some blood tests. My celiac blood panel came back abnormal. He then ordered a prometheus blood test which also confirmed that the celiac was still active. I have been zealous about my gluten free diet and also other issues like lotions and creams and shampoo. Initially I called the drugstore and asked that they flag all my medicines to be checked for gluten. Once learning that my celiac blood panel was still showing activity, I called the drugstore again and had them check all my medicines. I just found out that the prednisone that I had been taking could possibly contain gluten since the company did not test them for gluten. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. The drugstore was able to run my prescription again (just had one filled) and get me gluten free prednisone. I have to take prednisone for dermatomyositis which was diagnosed in the late 90s.

Gluten Free Tax Refund Help?

So im doing my taxes and im at the Medical Expenses section. I didnt work at all in 2011 and I entered in the total amount of all receipts from 2011. It says "Your non-refundable credits exceed your tax payable. You should carry all or a portion of your medical expenses forward to next year. To carry-forward medical expenses, remove the amounts, and save your receipts for use in a future year." Could someone explain what this means? Maybe I cant do it since I didnt work in 2011?

Organic Milk And Gluten Free

I know in the early stages of going gluten free, it is usually recommended to go dairy free too. I did that for the first couple of weeks pretty much without problem.

But, I really like cereal and it is something good to eat, so I have only a bit of organic milk with it. Do you think this little bit of milk, even organic, could still be affecting me? Does anyone here use organic milk...or should I just eliminate dairy altogether?? Any thoughts? Does the organic milk make a significant difference?

Thanks!

Digestive Enzymes And Probiotics

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for gluten-free, DF, soy free, yeast free, corn free probiotics and digestive enzymes? I'm currently taking digest gold w/ probiotics, and I like it, but I just realized that it has Non GMO soy oil in it. I started the GAPS diet, so I now need to avoid soy as well. I'm thinking that soy may have been a culprit this whole time without even realizing it. So, I'd like to avoid as much as I can. I am also on a tight budget, so I am looking for quality products with reasonable prices, if possible. Does anyone know of any digestive enzymes w/ probiotics in them that are free of all of these possible allergens? Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

gluten-free/soy Free Protein Bars

I have blood sugar issues and I love to keep protein bars handy for when I can't just stop my life and cook a meal. I was eating the Think Thin crunch bars (they are so good), but every afternoon I would get severe stomach cramping. My Dr. figured out that I must be reacting to the soy protein - stopped eating the bars, stopped having the pain. But now I need a replacement. I am VERY low sugar, and most meal replacement type bars are very high in sugar. Does anyone know of a protein bar (or something to have around that would fill me up quickly but would be portable and not require refridgeration)that also does not contain soy? I would like to go to the gym after work again, but I simply cannot go on an empty stomach. So I find myself racing home to cook dinner. Appreciate all the help I get from you guys - so nice to have a place to turn with questions!!

The stores here in my area have been out of the pie crusts for quite some time. The Nutritionists in these stores are telling me they are ordering them, but they have been on back order for some time, something about a "manufacturing issue."

Maple Grove Farms Pancake And Waffle Mix

I'm sorry to say that a gluten-free product that I greatly enjoyed, Maple Grove Pancake and Waffle Mix, has apparently been discontinued and replaced with Maple Grove Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Mix. The new box has pictures of waffles, biscuits and cookies on the box, and recipes on the package as well for these items.

This version is more potato-based, rather than rice as the previous version was, and other ingredients have changed as well. It's not nearly as tasty, and the remainder of the box will not see any use in my waffle maker again. If anybody can recommend a good alternative waffle mix, I'd appreicate it.

B12

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good B12 (preferrably sublingual) that is dairy free, soy free, gluten-free, corn free, yeast free, etc.? All of the brands I'm finding have lactose in them. Thanks!
Also, feel free to recommend a good multi-vitamin as well (free of gluten, dairy, soy, yeast, corn, etc.) I'm having a hard time deciding on the best one for a good price.
Thanks!
