  2. Hi   I am new as a writer to this forum, although I have been reading for several weeks every now and then.   I had thick legs all my life.   Intuitively for the last 10 years I have been eating very few wheat, I had corn crackers, corn noodels, corn spaghetti. Two or three years ago I started eating out for lunch - and gained three kilos within no time. I felt it was water. I haven't lost this water since then. In the restaurant they always serve you slices of bread with the meals. Now I know: This must have been the cause.   This Summer I decided to change from corn to wheat spaghetti. At the same time I discovered, that the bakery in the nearby town made excellent rye-bread, 100% pure, no wheat added, really dark an crusty. I loved it. Two months later my health was ruined.   My legs were swollen, I had problems walking and standing. I had an excema that turned out to be DH (Dermatitis Herpetiformis) as I found out thanks to a book and pictures in the internet. I spent hours surfing the internet and reading books and articles to find out, what was going on.   As soon as I realised, what it was, I stopped all gluten. That was six weeks ago.   The DH has nearly resoved.   The thick legs, I found out, must be Lipedema. I found a therapeut, who takes care of them. She does not the ordinary lympatic drainage but a much more intensive therapy.   I still have water retention in my tissues, not only the legs, but the arms, too and all over the body. It ist not just a lymphedema - it must be a changed, watery, "fatty tissue". I haven't lost any water until now. I have been walking around with compression stockings, I had my legs wrapped; but there ist no resolution to my problem until now.   Has anyone experienced something similar and did it resolve by eating no gluten? How long did it take? My tissue ist much softer now, but I guess I still carry around about 10 kilos of water, if not more.   Thanks in advance for your answers.
  3. Hello,   I'm brand new to the place and I'm not sure if I'm even posting in the right 'area' so feel free to tell me if I make a mistake or something.   Okay, well, I guess I should begin and tell you a little about what the heck is going on with me! Even if it is a little TMI... I'm a 20 year old female. I'm pretty healthy; I try to swim everyday, although I don't get enough sleep as I should. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid and was put on 100mg Synthroid; I take it in the morning. I've been on it for about two months now. I never forget to take it. Before I was even diagnosed with this thyroid problem I would get boils. I've had them on my armpits/side area and inner thighs. Some of them had to be lanced (Worst pain I've ever felt) and now I have purple scars   My inner thighs are becoming a serious problem. I get them more frequently now and they hurt SO bad. They form in clusters, these purple hideous things. I don't know what to do. I use the anti-bacterial soap everyday and put cream on them but nothing works. I was a 'vegetarian' (No red meat) for many years but I recently (5 months ago) added red meat back into my diet because I also have a blood clotting disorder and need the iron. I just moved across the country and I haven't gotten in to see a doctor yet but I'm desperate for any kind of help at all! I just want these things gone for good; they're driving me insane!     Help, please?
  4. I was diagnosed with Coeliac three months ago, as well as having the usual symptoms the most alarming is face numbing, a feeling of pressure in my head, dizziness and jelly legs, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this ?– I think this must be when Gluten gets into my system by accident. Over this bank holiday weekend my girlfriend and I ate out quite alot. All my meals were gluten free, but perhaps the chips were cooked in oil that had also cooked battered fish – the McDonalds was scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns, then to top this off I had the ‘gluten free pizza’ at Pizza Hut. On Tuesday I woke with my head all over the place, I misjudged putting the kettle back on the holder, then driving to work my condition worsened to the point I diverted to hospital and went to A&E, I honestly felt I was having a stroke, perhaps some of it was an anxiety attack? After examination the doctor released me but suggested I should get tested for MS. Yesterday I saw my GP and he has referred me for a scan. Today I was with my girlfriend and my symptoms returned again I was so concerned I went back to A&E – again I was released but told not to drive until the scan had been completed. I’m just wondering if I am on my own with this, or has anyone else experienced this and how did they get over it? Many thanks in advance..
