New to the board and newly diagnosed. My symptoms generally were upset stomach pains and loose bm. Yesterday I had pizza from a well known pizzeria. I ordered gluten free of course, within minutes of eating I started to feel the normal cramps of gluten. Then about an hour later I had an abnormal nausea and broke into hives. I'm assuming the food had some cross contamination.

So my question is simply, can your symptoms change or escalate?

Hello, and welcome to the board.

The simple answer to your question is, Yes, especially if you have been eating gluten free and then ingest gluten once more.  This does not happen with people who are not gluten intolerant.  The risk of cross-contamination in a pizzeria is quite high   alas.

Cross contamination . I am going to have to be careful also. I won't trust anything if made where gluten products are. I know you had gluten free version of the pizza but I think pizza dough must be higher I gluten because I always had worse symptoms than with regular bread. So maybe in that environment there is more gluten flying around.
