Rarely but ocassionally, when i eat chicken or pork, and sometimes other meats, i get glutened.

How is this possible?

Perhaps how or where the meat was prepared, seasonings used, cutting board used to slice, can all be sources of cross contamination. Some brands of meat are not gluten free. Boars Head and Hormel, for instance, label their products gluten free. Have you ever read the labels if you bought the meat that you got sick from?

Well last time it happened i was visiting my parents so they cooked it for me, but they said it was plain and everything, just mixed with veggies. but no, i didnt read the label, but it was cut on a cutting board that probably rarely gets washed cause its wooden, so maybe it was cross contamination

Yes - a cutting board very well could be the culprit. You can give your parents a plastic floppy cutting board (inexpensive) to use for you exclusively so it doesn't get cross contaminated. Another board member gives her friends/family these and finds it helpful.

It might be that anything your parents would have cooked would have gluten. If you didn't supervise, read every label & make sure the utensils, pans, colanders are free of gluten.....who knows

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
