Ok, While I do not wear make up a lot, mostly in the past just didn't feel like fooling with it, however on occasion when I want to look nice, I will put some on.  With that said, with what little dab of  goodies I had , it wound up in the garbage.  Some requirements I do have for new make up brands is 1) It must be gluten-free, 2) vegetarian friendly. If anyone knows of a good brand that would helpful. This brings me to another question related, but don't see a need to make a separate post. In the past I was a huge fan of Aveda, I loved their products but upon inquiring the salon told me while they are plant based, they do often contain gluten, and wasn't the most helpful on which ones did not. The receptionist did state there was a couple but didn't know which they was. That for me isn't really good enough, so I am on a mission to find a new hair salon in the New orleans area, or in Baton Rouge that does offer gluten-free hair care and uses them during hair cuts.

As always thank you for the help,

Try these sites: www.pacificaperfume.com, www.100percentpure.com, and www.gabrielcosmeticsinc.com

I have used all of them. The customer service is very helpful.  All are good companies with good products.

I don't worry about what the salon uses.  It doesn't get in mouth.  At home, I worry about it a little more, because I seem to get shampoo in my mouth.

If the make-up won't go in your mouth, it should be fine.  Lipstick - needs to be gluten-free.  Mascara - not a big deal

I felt noticeably better after switching to gluten free makeup. I use Zuzu Luxe. They are wonderful products. You can get it online at Open Original Shared Link or I get mine at Whole Foods.

i use physicians formula.  they're gluten free, but i don't know if they're vegetarian or not.  my skin has always been sensitive, nothing to do with gluten, but some 'regular' foundations or tinted moisturizers will make my face break out in a rash  :o  also, i can't do fragrances, blah, blah - sometimes i can't believe God made me a girl.  who smells like tea tree and coconuts............

For shampoo, try Andalou naturals, which is also gluten-free and vegan. I order from vitacost online. Not sure about salons.

Honeybee Gardens is good too. I order from Abe's Market online.

Oh and Red Apple Lipstick is great and certified gluten-free, but a little pricey...

Silk Naturals has gluten free lip products! They have a pretty wide selection! Are there any drug store brands that are gluten free? Like Revlon, Covergirl, Rimmel etc?

The only drug store lines that I've been able to find that seemed to be gluten free were Wet n Wild and Physicians Formula.  You'd have to search to be sure nothing has changed etc.  When I looked, it looked like they only product Wet n Wild sold that had gluten in it was their Mega Plump mascara.  I do use their lip glosses.

Just wanted to bump this thread. I was at Ulta the other day refreshing my makeup bag and I found the most awesome gluten-free, cruelty free brand called Tarte. They have a statement that all of their products are formulated without gluten. I was a little hesistant because sometimes these so called "natural" makeup products are not as high quality. Also, there is always concern about the misuse of the term "gluten free." However, so far I am really enjoying the products and have found them to on-par with Clinique, my old favorite brand. I still use some Urban Decay products, but I check the ingredients online before purchase. I haven't had any problems with CC, but I'm sticking with Tarte for lipsticks and most everything else. Clinique partakes in animal testing, so even if they were gluten-free, their products are out the window for me moving forward.

Tarte products I recommend so far:

  • Lights, camera, lashes Mascara
  • Lipsurgence Matte Lip tint
  • Universal Lip Liner
  • Creaseless Conceler
  • Eye Primer Stick
  • Tinted Moisturizer
  • Maracuja Face Oil (this stuff is an awesome fast-drying oil that beats out Aura Acacia for me.)
  • The Sculptor Contour Pencil

Just wanted to share. Highly recommend Tarte! I haven't had much trouble with cosmetics. Even so, I am going to stick with a brand like Tarte as much as possible moving forward. It's nice to have that peace of mind.

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.

I did reach out to them on April 4th and left a message. I will try calling again. Thank you!

PPI's can be a wonderful healing agent when used as prescribed on the label which I believe recommends use of up to 8 weeks. But they are like antibiotics in that they are overprescribed and undermonitored. Docs generally prescribe them and then keep prescribing them because they take care of immediate symptoms so well. Physicians are more into treating symptoms than uncovering causes.

For the vast majority of celiacs it's probably safe, however, it seems that for those who are super sensitive it's best to avoid such products. It's fairly easy now to find brands that are naturally gluten-free, which is what Celiac.com recommends.  You might finds this article interesting:
