Lindt 85% Chocolate Bar

Since going gluten free almost 3 years ago I have relied on Lindt 85% chocolate bars as my go to chocolate (I live in Japan so limited choices). The allergens have always been listed as "may contain: soy, nuts, milk". Not a problem for me. Last night I went to buy some (I stock up!) and I noticed the label looked different. I read it and sure enough, the allergens now read "may contain soy, nuts, milk, sesame and wheat."

 

I have no idea why this has changed. It still says "manufactured in France." The Japanese Lindt homepage still does not list wheat. The UK homepage does list wheat and the US homepage does not!!! I wrote to the company but it was after hours on Friday.

 

Any other Lindt eaters notice a change????

I saw a similar change with Ghirardelli cocoa. Customer service said they had changed where it was manufactured, and it is now made on shared equipment.

Oh wow! That is annoying! I'm my opinion, chocolate should be nowhere near wheat! Do you have Enjoy Life chocolate there? It's free of all major allergens. I believe plain Hersheys is gluten free. I hope you find something...great job reading that label!

I never had problems  with  Meiji dark bars but Lindt in Hawaii usually has  wheat listed. Never  saw ko-mugi on all   except 1 of the meiji products

Lindt in the US usually has barley malt flavoring in it, so I stay away from the brand.  Hopefully it is not a manufacturing process change and you will still be able to get that one.  What country are you in, Japan?

Problem with Japanese chocolates is that I find them "waxy." Maybe soy lecithin? I just ordered some chocolate from the US. Not as convenient as popping in to a store to get some but that may be a good thing.

 

I did notice last week I was extremely exhausted. I took a nap every day. Since I quit the chocolate a few days ago I have been fine! I haven't felt tired or sluggish at all.

      So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

      Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.

      Hmm interesting I just assumed that any “IGA” tests including the DPG iga would be negative in a person who is IGA deficient but maybe that is not the case for the DPG test.

      If you were just diagnosed I can say that if you go 100% gluten-free should should see dramatic improvement of your symptoms over the next few months, but the hard part is to stay gluten-free. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
