Last Night,
I Broke Out In The Most Horrendous, Most Severe Hives I've Ever Had Last Night!!! Absolutely no sleep, just constant itching.
I was diagnosed with hives about 2 1/2 weeks ago after accidently eating a large amount of soy sauce which I believed was gluten free from my favorite restaurant.
No need to mention, I'll never, ever go back.
I never had hives before, I did have some slight itching since the time I was diagnosed, but never like this, I always attributed it to stress, not celiac disease.
2 Dermatologists that I have seen think I have hives that is directly related to my Celiac disease. So to say the least, I have been extremely careful, looking up absolutely everything, before it goes into my mind. And I refuse to eat at a restaurant ever again, I just don't trust it.
I know it had to be something I accidently ingested, despite being extremely careful.
So, I have gone over everything over and over again in my head that might have caused this reaction, and the only thing that I ate that I think might have caused this reaction is this bar I found at Whole Foods, called the KIND Fruit and Nut Bar from PeaceWorks Inc. I got the Almond and Coconut bar. It states on the package that it is dairy free, however doesn't state boldly that it is gluten free.
The ingredients though seem safe: they are almonds, coconut, honey, glucose, puffed rice, humectant (gycerol Vegetable based), chicory fiber, lecithin (from Soy). And It states nothing about being processed in a wheat factory.
The only ingredient I am questioning is the "chickory fiber", has anyone ever heard of Celiac's having a problem with "chickory fiber??".
I have been off of dairy for about 3 to 4 days right now, however I don't think I'm allergic to dairy, I have never had any problems with dairy before. I just wanted to go without it for about a week to see if some my skin problems would improve, however, it's only been about 3 days that I've been off the dairy. Not to mention this bar doesn't contain dairy.
I'VE BEEN GOING OUT OF MY MIND- trying to figure out what caused my hives last night, I didn't sleep at all, and am sooooooooo tired, so I know i ingested something I wasn't suppossed to but What??, I have not clue.
If anyone can shed light on this mystery, I'd love the feedback. Also has anyone tried one of these KIND BARS from Peaceworks Inc, and had a reaction, or know if oats are in them??
Just wondering,
Thanks so much for listening
Kim
