Negativity?

When I get gluttened, I can't help but have negative thoughts about everything. For example, I can't stop thinking how I hate my mom and keep thinking about all the things she's done to me in the past and start blaming her for all of my problems. I can't get it out of my head, it'll replay like a song stuck in my head, constantly fixated on the wrongs that people done to me or how worthless I am. A day later, when I'm better, I'll completely regret the things I've said or felt.

Is that something that happens to anyone? A symptom of being gluttened?

I am in the exact same boat when I get glutened also except my hate and negativity is toward my boy friend. I get to the point where I think about ending it all. I know it's gluten and I fight my brain. My heart aches for you because it's almost scary to feel these things. Gluten is like a demon! It's so hard to control when it happens! The science behind it is interesting. 95% of serotonin is produced in our gut. Right there we don't get enough serotonin. I've also read the the gluten protien can travel to the brain and block hormones needed to feel normal. I suggest reading more into it. Gives you a better understanding of your body and why it happens so you can better deal with it. I suggest meditation, working out and at all cost try your hardest not to get glutened. Last 2 weeks I been cooking from scratch and it's made a world of difference. Chex, udis and most things labeled gluten free I can't eat. Anyways I hope you know you are not alone. Just remember it's not you. It's the gluten!

Sometimes I can't tell if it's the gluten or if it really is my mom pissing me off. Just being in the same house as her gives me a headache and anxiety.... and she's literally doing nothing wrong but watching tv in her room. I really hope it's just the gluten.

I get SUPER self-critical when I'm glutened. I mean really, really bad! I tell myself over and over how worthless I am. Just like you, I can't get it out of my head. When I haven't been glutened, I'm as calm and happy as can be.

I also get severe depression and negativity along with an increase in paranoia. The depression is so severe I get suicidal but fortunately that lifts within a day or so and I now know it is the gluten reaction so I can fight off the suicidal ideation. Off gluten I am even tempered, heck you would have to do a lot to even make me slightly angry and even though my life is very stressful because of financial and remaining physical issues I am for the most part happy.

I'm pretty sure that in stores, you can find plenty of gluten-free options. But they are usually a bit more expensive.

Hello @BunnyBrown and welcome to the forum. I cannot say that I have had the procedure you describe, but recently I did have general surgery and was routinely intubated.  That pain was what troubled me most after the operation, far more than the operation site.  It took a few days to really settle down, I was quite badly bruised. It was taking so long I was a bit concerned so asked the question on another forum. A few patients came back to me and said they had suffered the same.  I imagine in my own case possibly the throat got bashed about a bit,  maybe they had difficult inserting the tube?  I've suffered with a painful throat post-endoscopy too, but never as long as the intubation pain.   I hope you will be feeling better very soon.   PS BTW - love the name!  I saw this today in an Easter display in a shop and your name reminded me of it.🙂

This wonderful, Anne. I think you have a point about why people disappear off forums.  I found the first few years post diagnosis a real struggle and frankly wondered if I would ever feel better (not to dishearten people, but just to say it can take a while longer for some folk to heal).  However, once my antibodies were back within normal range it really has made a big difference to my health.  I've chosen to stick around because I'm a Mod, otherwise I might have been one of those that disappeared, too!

Just a quick question, can the host live in any state in the USA?
