Wow :) That is so awesome!

Between bus runs and afterward, she trains for the kickboxing competition. Diagnosed last year with celiac disease, Gilbert hasn’t let it slow her down.
Yep, that's her!

Hey guys I'm back and yep this article is about me... How did you find this? You guys are amazing

I had an awesome time up there. Although I couldn't win, I had the best world championships I ever had (so far). I know this year will be hard to top in the future. I will tell you all of this exciting week in a couple of days. I'm still writing on it.... that will be long... phew  . To water your mouth a little bit:

My husband had a big surprise for me. I met my old german trainer. The Team USA had a great reaction to my celiac restrictions and I passed one of the finals with 1/10 of a point :o . So 4th place actually, but you don't get a medal for that. Aluminum medal  . I also had the honor to get elected into the USA women fighter team. I must have made a real good impression, cause now I'm also the Pennsylvanian IAKSA State Representative and I'm already working on looking for good people for the next world championships. I hope I don't have to wear a suit and tie  . Ha... But I already found one gray hair, that's gotta count for something B) ...

But I probably will come with the IAKSA USA Team as either a referee or coach only for the next two years. Due to the fact, that the WKA Association isn't answering my letters :( (maybe they don't like germans) and for the IAKSA World championships I have to be an American (even if I would qualify at a qualifier, I wouldn't be allowed to start for the Team, so why waist all the money in the first place???), the next 2 years I won't even have a chance on a World Championship again (in 2 years I get my American citizenship). But I already start to prepare now for then (maybe even for the Olympics?, so I will be even better :D ). Thanks for your help the last couple of weeks guys. I couldn't have made it without you. THANKS 1000 TIMES!!! You will also get an update on my sports diary.

And yeah, the celiac. I knew from the start, if there would be an article in the newspaper I want to mention the celiac in there. And I have a stubborn head. Oh, Kathy (in one of the pics) is the women in my Team that has celiac, too. I already mentioned her several times in here.

Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to everybody, Stef

If you want to see it at 4th place, I mean. The thing is, that there is one 1st place, one 2nd place and TWO 3rd places :o . All four of them are in the finals in the form performing classes. I missed this final with 1/10 of a point. So theoretically spoken it's a 4th place, cause there are two 3rd places and no 4th place in the finals. But some people say it's 5th... I don't know  . One thing I know, is, that I improved greatly. Cause 2003 in Ireland I already passed the final with 1/10 of a point  and there weren't nearly as much people than now in Canada. And the skill lewel two years ago was waaay lower than this time, too :P . So I must have improved.

One thing I know for sure (without being cocky now) is I did a really good job and I worked hard for it :D . And I didn't give my opponents an easy time. They really earned it, too. And I didn't give anything away either. It was the highest skilled kickboxing world championships I ever competed in (or watched, I also was spectator when I wasn't competing). Every competitor there really earned it to yet alone be there. It was awesome... I'm so glad I did this. Well, I'm at my parents in law at the moment so I have to get going. But as I said, you will get some nice, cool, funny, sad, emberassing whatever stories. There's something for everybody.

Hugs, Stef

Steph

I loved the article! Congratulations! Thank you for mentioning the Celiac. I have showed the article to my daughter, what a great gluten free role model!

Thanks, Laura, this makes me so proud  . First I was afraid of mentioning celiac (just like the "big" celebrities :P ). But then I "jumped over my shadow" and told 'em. Now it's out and actually it wasn't that bad. Actually it gave me a little bit of popularity. Since I'm back from Canada strangers on the street talk to me about this, cause they remember. Isn't that cool? And one of the women I had in my class beginning 2004 remembered me when I went shopping in WalMart (she's working there). She tries to talk to her boss about having me "over" for christmas for a charity thing and giving out pics with autographs. If this should ever happen, I will fight for bringing in glutenfree foods into our WalMart. Because our WalMart in Carlisle doesn't have glutenfree foods.

At the moment I'm planning for our "2 in 1" holiday party December, 10th. "2 in 1" means christmas and world championships celebration in one. The press probably will be there again (I don't know for sure, but they will get my invitation at the beginning of next week) and I'm struggling with the decision at the moment to invite celiacs and make a big thing with glutenfree food  . My beloved Kathy won't come, so I would be the only one and without help in this section :( . I can't count on the help of my other students. None of them is celiac. They probably would contaminate the food without knowing. So I don't know what to do at the moment. I'm fussing and planing and can't get anything done... What do you guys think?

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?
    • Aussienae
I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.
    • trents
What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
