Brain Fog

I was dx with Celiac about a year ago and I have just found some articles that relate Celiac to Brain Fog, Memory, Neurological and Cognitive conditions. I have no issues with being depressed or anxious, but I kept telling all my doctors it was something more. I've been thinking I'm going crazy, had a brain tumor or was getting MS.....it was THAT bad. Has anyone else had any symptoms like this or can provide insight? I've just kept saying there has to be a common denominator and silly me I think this might be it.

Welcome to the forum!

Yep, celiac disease can affect your brain!  In my case, celiac disease, perimenopause, and an unstable thyroid (Hashimoto's)  made me kind of crazy!   I had been a fairly intelligent person, but all that seemed to diminish with my illness.  I am happy to report that I have both  physically and mentally improved but it took about two years of eating gluten free and healing.    Still.....I am not helping my kid with her math homework (engineer hubby handles that), but I can review her English and Spanish!  I feel like I got some of my marbles back!  :)

Maybe you just need some more time to heal.  If it is really bothering you, check with your doctor.   You can develop additional autoimmune disorders.  Plenty of us have two, three or four autoimmune disorders on this forum.

Absolutely a connection between celiac and brain fog-  problem for me is that I have been off gluten for over three months and I still have lots of brain fog that gets really severe soon after eating. I'm careful with my gluten free diet- but maybe not careful enough... My thoughts are that I'm having other food sensitivities that are also causing the brain fog now.

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
