Are Cheerios gluten-free or not?

I've been tempted lately to buy Cheerios but I'm wary of their gluten-free claims. The uproar last fall over the recall and the lawsuits seems to have died down yet I'm concerned. A search didn't provide anything more recent so I'm looking to all of you to fill me in. Did I miss something, has this been resolved, or am I right to remain on the sidelines for a while longer?

I've been eating them, they are certified. And i normally won't eat anything made within 50 miles of something with wheat in the name because I react to any gluten.

Personally I can't do even purity protocol oats BUT even if I could I wouldn't trust gluten-free Cheerios with a 10 ft. pole. You might want to read this & follow the links contained & other articles listed regarding the subject:

So far I've had no problems with gluten-free Cherrios and I've been eating them since they started producing the gluten-free line. Generally I will have some reaction to gluten if there is contamination in the product I'm eating. But I'm sure someone has gotten a bad batch or is simply very sensitive to trace amounts of gluten. It's up to each individual to decide whether you want to chance trying them. The article mentioned by squirmingitch sheds light on the problem with anything listed as gluten-free. Contamination can occur at any point in the harvest or processing, and testing may miss it. I also eat Chex, Nature's Path cereals and have tried other brands w/o any problems. I do miss gluten-free Rice Krispies, they made for a nice addition to meat loaf, shame they discontinued the item.

I thought it had all died down too so I started buying them for my celiac daughter. 4 boxes were fine. The 5th made her very sick for over a week.  Beware!

I'm pretty sure that in stores, you can find plenty of gluten-free options. But they are usually a bit more expensive.

Hello @BunnyBrown and welcome to the forum. I cannot say that I have had the procedure you describe, but recently I did have general surgery and was routinely intubated.  That pain was what troubled me most after the operation, far more than the operation site.  It took a few days to really settle down, I was quite badly bruised. It was taking so long I was a bit concerned so asked the question on another forum. A few patients came back to me and said they had suffered the same.  I imagine in my own case possibly the throat got bashed about a bit,  maybe they had difficult inserting the tube?  I've suffered with a painful throat post-endoscopy too, but never as long as the intubation pain.   I hope you will be feeling better very soon.   PS BTW - love the name!  I saw this today in an Easter display in a shop and your name reminded me of it.🙂

This wonderful, Anne. I think you have a point about why people disappear off forums.  I found the first few years post diagnosis a real struggle and frankly wondered if I would ever feel better (not to dishearten people, but just to say it can take a while longer for some folk to heal).  However, once my antibodies were back within normal range it really has made a big difference to my health.  I've chosen to stick around because I'm a Mod, otherwise I might have been one of those that disappeared, too!

Just a quick question, can the host live in any state in the USA?
