Is This Flu Or Gluten Reaction

My son vomited for about 3 hours last night, then was fine. He seems fine today. He had stomach flu 5 weeks ago. OUr whole family did. We ate at McDonalds for lunch. And he got into a friends fries. NOW, they tell me the fries are safe at this particular McDonalds, but we avoid them, b/c a friend who's son reacts severly to gluten said to.

My son has been asymptomatic. I'm thinking b/c we are gluten free, he may now show reactions?

Do I take him to babysitter? Or is it the flu?

Hi Lucy,

Since your son was well before vomiting, and is fine now, I doubt that he has the flu. And yes, after being gluten free for several months, he may now be reacting to offending foods, even if he didn't before going on the diet.

My chiropractor says that vomiting is not a sign of illness, but of wellness, because if the stomach immediately rejects foods that are bad for the body, that's a sign it's working right. Your son vomited out the offending food before it got into his bowels and into his bloodstream, and as a consequence is fine today.

I don't think there should be a problem with bringing him to a babysitter. Just explain that he vomited yesterday, and should probably only eat things that are easy on the stomach today.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
