So is horseradish bad????? Any gluten-free ones that anyone knows of????

A few weeks ago I made a birthday dinner for DH, got MISERABLY sick afterwards. I cooked it all, and the only thing it could have been was the prime rib which was pre-seasoned at the store, which I only had MAYBE 4-5 bites of......BUT I dipped those bites in horseradish sauce that I made myself, however, I've never LOOKEd at the horseradish jar, I bought fresh ground Horseradish like I've always and mixed it with sour cream and etc. WELLLLllllll, I decided to LOOK at the jar, and whaddaya know....there is distilled vinegar, artificial flavoring and some other stuff in it that I know is ok. I always assumed it was just horseradish, since it says "fresh ground" on the jar, no sauce on the label at all.

So, is this maybe the culprit??????? Anyone have experience with horseradish???? Is there anyway to make gluten-free cocktail sauce, or is shrimp cocktail out now too???????

I use McCormick's cocktail sauce and Kraft horseradish sauce (I'm in US).

I am ok with horseradish...

I think it could have been the pre-seasoned prime rib -- its rare to find any marinated meat that is ok.....they always have a billion ingredients....

I agree. I would bet money that there was gluten of some sort in the pre-seasoned meat. There's always the possibility that his stomach is still in the healing stage and is just sensitive. He could always try it with just some plain steak and see if he has the same reaction?
