Prayer Request...

I'm asking everyone I can to pray for me. I've been dx with asthma and GERD. I don't want this. I believe in prayer. I believe your prayers in addition to my own can heal me and change my dx. You don't have to do the St. Jude Novena below, just any prayer you want. Please help me. I don't feel good at all. Thankyou very, very much. I'm just some internet person to you, I know. But I'm a mom to three kids in the real world. They need me and I need to be there for them 100% as my husband is in the middle east for 2 years. Thankyou.

I too have asthma. My daughter was born in April with a heart defect and had open heart surgery at 9 days old. It is amazing at how God has used her illness as a witness to others. He has healed her in so many ways, including a diagnosis of Celiac and starting me on a gluten-free diet while breastfeeding. I will pray for your healing and strength and for your circumstances to be used for His glory. Your kids are blessed to have a Mom who believes in miracles!

May God bless you abundantly.

Prayers definitely help, and I will keep you in mine. I have had asthma and gerd my entire life. It is scary in the beginning, but there are great medicines and procedures these days. I had surgery to fix my gerd 17 years ago. The asthma and heartburn went away immediately. The surgery doesn't last forever, I'm having it again this Friday, but I did have 16 great years. I don't know if you are at the point of thinking about surgery, but I would be happy to share any information. Good luck getting things under control.

Thankyou so much. I believe in miracles. I know I can be healed through prayer. (guys, I'm really working hard to say that with an ounce of faith. :( I'm having a hard time because this pain is all the time and it's preventing me from sleep. Please keep up the prayers. I've had some amazing things happen in my life due to prayer... for instance, my oldest had a stroke at birth and was paralyzed. He wasn't expeced to walk without a walking aid for the rest of his life.. He received so many prayers, and we worked hard on him. Nowadays, no one can tell he had a stroke. I've had doctors ask me..."That kid had a stroke???!!" I had one doctor ARGUE with me about it. We're military and had moved. He actually needed PROOF  It was like, are you nuts? Do you think we made it up??? Haha. Ok. See how well prayer works!!!?? I need to remember this too. Or my prayers will be useless. Please if you want to share with me how your own life was healed by prayer, please, please, please do. I need to keep in mind how much God does for us. Thanks.

Hi there,

I agree with you.

I have a little mustard seed in a pin that i gave my grandmother and it was in her casket when she died and since i gave it to her they gave it back to me.

My whole family loves the passage in the bible about the seed. I bet you know the whole correct one but what my familys matra is "if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible unto you"

This little seed has been in the hosptial with me 25 times, in the pocket of my son who spent a year in Italy,

in the pocket with husband when be burried his father, with me when I gave birth to my son, in my dad's hand when he died, in my friends pocket when she had to go to france for a yr and was in poor mental health and then on her dress at our best friend, her husbands, funeral..and now lastly on my mom when she passed in Aug. I have it now and when i need confort, i use it as a 'touch stone' and connects me with all the people i've loved--still love--and it helps me remember what a small anount of faith can accomplish--even move mountians I think is part of the quote.

Your son sure is a miracle

I printed the prayer out to say each day and more offen if i can...I am not catholic so i don't know it by heart that's for sure.

we're here for you

Take good care of yourself.

I can't thank you enough. But if you ever need prayers, Rachel, just ask me. I'm learning some really good ones this week!

Btw... I went to Catholic Mass today and the homily was all about Jesus healing people!!! :o I was blown away. The priest was saying he had worked in all sorts of health care places and seen people healed by miracles. He said those who were healed believed they would be healed. He talked about Simon Peter bringing Jesus to see his Mother in Law who was very ill and Jesus healed her then went out and healed a bunch of other sick people! Can you believe it? How perfect for me to hear that today. I feel hopeful to some extent today. I keep coming back here and re-reading your posts, I'm calling everyone I know and requesting prayers. I'm trying to stay positive. I cried for a half an hour after mass today because I was having so much trouble breathing... and I keep losing my sureity that I'll get better... You guys are helping. Thankyou. And thankyou for all of your prayers.

I'm glad the mass lifted your spirits. I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason so you were meant to hear those stories at mass today of all days. :)

Don't give up on the positive thinking...its going to get you through this. I'm glad you found the strength to go to mass after having a rough night. See....I knew you were a fighter. ;)

I may need your prayers next week when I start meds to kill my C.Diff infection. I'm a little scared...been reading all the horror stories online. I just hope all goes well and its not too difficult to get rid of.

Rachel, thanks again. Now stop reading horror stories on line! I'm already praying for you. You'll be fine. I have a dr appt on tues. Everyone, please keep me in your prayers for that appointment. I'm trying to be positive. I'm probably going to be deserving the "most needy poster at celiac.com" award, but please keep praying for me. I'm very upset, I hurt, and I don't want this problem. Please continue to pray for me so that I can absorb your postive thinking. You're all so nice. Thankyou!

I've gotten teary eyed reading this post. I'm so sensitive!!

I'm sending prayers for both of your and your families. The power of prayer is remarkable. My dd was healed shortly after being born. I know she was healed through prayer and grace.

I know it's so difficult to take care of a family when you feel so sick. Do you have anyone that can help you until you get to feeling better? I had to depend on relatives before I was diagnosised with celiac disease.

I have other health issues as well. I had a strong support system and circle of prayers. I asked for healing and God showed me I had celiac disease, allergies etc... Now I feel that I have been healed, just in a different way.

This also reminds me how important faith is and sharing what God has done for us!

Thankyou. No, I don't have family. Not from my side or my husband's side. I have a sister who's a high powered type of woman with no kids who lives in NY. I have friends and they're really great. But we all have kids and no one can stop and take on my needs. Everyone's offering, but I feel so depressed and my house is a mess.... One friend took me to the store yesterday just to hang out and get the honey and apple cider vinegar. But I don't really want company so much as I desparately want and need prayers and confidence that this will be healed. I know it's a permanent condition, but it can be cured by a miracle if everyone prays for me. I keep thinking that God will heal me if everyone prays. I know I heard that mass today for a reason. I had told God yesterday that I was a weak person and that I NEEDED a sign. I prayed to Mary and asked her for a sign that she was listening to my prayers for healing.... So, I think the Mass was an answered prayer! God wants me to know that MY FAITH and the FAITH of OTHERS will heal me. If two or more are gathered together in prayer, He's there with them. Anything we ask for in the name of Jesus, will be given to us. I am hoping to "stump" my doctors on tuesday when I go in there and they can no longer find anything wrong with me. ....

But then, last night was really rough. I was so sick all night. I was up for hours on and off, crying and scared. I'm exhausted today. I am here looking for the strenght that will give me hope. You guys are great. Thankyou.

So true. When I was the most scared I would never find answers I prayed and asked God to just lead me in the right direction for a dx....no matter what it was...I just wanted an answer. Everytime I had these desperate moments where I was losing strength something positive would happen to steer me closer to a dx. The latest was finding this great new doctor. I dont think it was an accident that this flyer ended up in my hands with the doctors name and number and the words "Celiac Specialist". I had been crying and asking God for help just a couple days before.

Rachel, thanks for sharing that. That makes me feel so much better. Now when I'm upset and crying and asking for help, I'll just recall that your answer took a couple of days! I'm going to try to keep imagining that God's help is on the way for me. It's on the way. I'll have an anwer in my hands in a little more time. I really needed to hear that story.

How did your doctor's appointment go yesterday? I will also be praying for you.

Last September, after being extremely ill all summer (and being very unwell all my life, with asthma as well), my pastor and my husband (who is an elder) prayed for my healing, annointing me with oil. And two days later God showed me that Celiac disease was the problem. I know He was the one showing me, because it hadn't even entered my mind before, as I knew almost nothing about it then. I ate a piece of rye bread, and was doubled over within an hour, and suddenly I knew I had to go and look up Celiac disease on the Internet! And I immediately realized that I must have it when I started reading, it all fit.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! There are other things that may cause elevated tTg-IgA levels, but in general a reaction to gluten is the culprit:

Hi @trents Just seen this - Boot's is a chain of pharmacies in the UK, originally founded in the 19th Century by a chap with the surname, Boot.  It's a household name here in the UK and if you say you are going to Boot's everyone knows you are off to the pharmacist! Cristiana

I am looking to find a Celiac Dietician who is affiliated with the Celiac Disease Foundation who I can set up an appointment with.  Can you possibly give some guidance on this?  Thank you!

Nacina, Knitty Kitty has given you good advice. But I would say/add find a Fat Soluble B-1 like Benfotiamine for best results.  The kind found in most Multivitamins have a very low absorption rate. This article shows how taking a Fat Soluble B-1 can effectively help absorption by 6x to7x times. https://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com/journal/thiamine-deficiency-and-diabetic-polyneuropathy quoting from the article.... "The group ingesting benfotiamine had maximum plasma thiamine levels that were 6.7 times higher than the group ingesting thiamine mononitrate.32" Also, frequency is much more important than amount when it comes to B-Vitamin. These are best taken with meals because they provide the fat for better absorption. You will know your B-Vitamin is working properly when your urine becomes bright yellow all the time. This may take two or three months to achieve this.......maybe even longer depending on how low he/you are. The Yellow color is from excess Riboflavin bypassing the Kidneys....... Don't stop them until when 2x a day with meals they start producing a bright yellow urine with in 2 or 3 hours after the ingesting the B-Complex...... You will be able to see the color of your urine change as the hours go by and bounce back up after you take them in the evening. When this happens quickly......you are now bypassing all the Riboflavin that is in the supplement. The body won't absorb more than it needs! This can be taken as a "proxy" for your other B-Vitamin levels (if taken a B-Complex) ...... at least at a quick and dirty level......this will only be so for the B-1 Thiamine levels if you are taking the Fat Soluble forms with the Magnesium as Knitty Kitty mentioned. Magnesium is a Co-Factor is a Co-factor for both Thiamine and Vitamin D and your sons levels won't improve unless he also takes Magnesium with his Thiamine and B-Complex. You will notice his energy levels really pick up.  His sleeping will improve and his muscle cramps will get better from the Magnesium! Here is nice blog post that can help you Thiamine and it's many benefits. I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advice God speed on your son's continued journey I used to be him. There is hope! 2 Tim 2:7 “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things” this included. Posterboy by the grace of God,

I'll answer your second question first. The single best antibody test for monitoring celiac blood antibody levels is the tTG-IGA and it is very cost effective. For this reason, it is the most popular and often the only test ordered by physicians when checking for celiac disease. There are some people who actually do have celiac disease who will score negatives on this test anyway because of anomalies in their immune system but your wife is not one of them. So for her, the tTG-IGA should be sufficient. It is highly sensitive and highly specific for celiac disease. If your wife gets serious about eating gluten free and stays on a gluten free diet for the duration, she should experience healing in her villous lining, normalization in her antibody numbers and avoid reaching a celiac health crisis tipping point. I am attaching an article that will provide guidance for getting serious about gluten free living. It really is an advantage if all wheat products are taken out of the house and other household members adopt gluten free eating in order to avoid cross contamination and mistakes.
