Back Acne

I have had acne on my back since I was 10, I'm 28 now. The only time it goes away is if I use strong medicine diligently for a week or so, and then it comes back when I stop. When I went gluten-free, a few weeks later it was almost entirely cleared up. I got glutened 3 times last week - I haven't gotten the hang of eating out yet - and it came back big time. I have even broken out on my face which doesn't usually happen. I can't think of any other reason why it is getting better and then worse again. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Up until a few weeks ago I had bad acne. It was only bad in the last few years but Proactiv kept it under control until recently. In the last 2 months it had gotten really bad and I started getting it on my body. It cleared up really well with some antibiotics from the dermatologist, but I've also been eating gluten-free in the last month.

fyi- I just went through a lot of my products in the last few days. I found wheat in a lot of my shampoos, conditioners, bubble baths, and shower gels, but the neutrogena anti-acne body wash was ok.

My acne flares up with accidental glutenings (ex. foods I thought were safe that weren't or from a CC issue). Have you been feeling fine otherwise? Proactiv has helped me too and their products are gluten-free. I've been using St. Ives acne scrub every day in the shower on my chest and upper back and this keeps my body acne at bay. However, St. Ives has told me that none of their products can be considered gluten free because they do make certain products with wheat. So, if you are wary of gluten in products (like me) take care when using St. Ives if you go this route, just in case. (This is why I only use the scrub on my body, not my face, and I wash my hands a bunch after using it). Good luck.

Yep, skin sores and being off balance and depressed are my first symptoms, they show up within 24 hours of injestion. The big D and muscle and joint pain take a couple days.

It is so crazy to me how many issues I have seem to be related to this. I'm so glad I found out about it now so I can try to prevent more damage.

I would love to have a summer where I can wear bathing suits and tank tops and not worry about my back at all. I have tried Proactiv and antiboitics and neither one worked well on my back. My face rarely breaks out. I do have a liquid antibiotic I got from the dermatologist, and I tried that, but you have to put it on twice a day and I don't like to bother with it in the winter.

Enlarged lymph nodes in neck and groin with celiac are not uncommon. They can take time to reduce even after going gluten-free. Monitoring is key.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.
