Rectal Prolapse And Celiac Disease

Had anyone ever heard of a correlation between rectal prolapse and celiac disease??? My five year old just had an episode of rectal prolapse (very weird stuff!) and one of the doctors we know suggested checking into a link between food allergies and rectal prolapse. I did find some very scattered information in the internet but nothing really said much.

I have one daughter already on a gluten free diet, another being tested this week and now this weird thing that may also be tied to celiac for the third daughter!

I myself am constantly anemic but have no other symptoms. I guess that I will have to be tested as well.

I'd love to hear from anyone that has dealt with this or has any really good books or internet links that I can check before heading into the doctor's office about it!!

I HADN'T HEARD ABOUT THIS BUT THINK LYNNE 'TIREDOFDOCTORS' (WHO IS OFF LINE FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS ) USED TO BE A PT WHO DELT WITH ISSUES LIKE THIS IN HER PRACTICE. WHEN HER COMPUTER IS FIXED MAYBE YOU COULD EMAIL HER OR WRITE HER A PERSONAL NOTE.

I HAVE HER ADDRESS AS WE HAVE BEEN SENDING HER CARDS IN HER ABSENCE ON LINE.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

      What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
