Should Dermititis Herpetiformis By Biopsied?

I've been on the diet for almost 4 weeks. Was diagnosed recently. My Dr. is 2 hours away. I emailed him a picture of a place which showed up on my leg 3 weeks ago. He said yes, it is from ciliac disease. Just keep on your diet. Is it necessary to get a biopsy of this spot (looks exactly like pictures I have seen on the internet of the ciliac outbreaks)? It isn't itching now, is very scaly, and looks like the dark red color might be fading a little.

I am new to messaging, don't know if I am doing this right! Thanks, Nancy

If he's quite certain it's DH, then no, sticking to the diet is all you need to do. (Well, reduce your iodine intake until it goes away - iodine is part of the chemical reaction in the skin that causes DH.)

      Trying to read my lab results

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
