Hi. Is it a fact to say that some ppl can just have a sensetivity? I read so many serious issues of celiac & it's def not what I'm going through. When I eat wheat, it's as if I've swallowed poison ivy. A huge itch & tickle down my throat, plus I have a specific rash on my inner thighs that inflame for about 2 weeks (per stopping the wheat consumption) I've had this rash since a child. I've always been very sensetive to gain weight & always though the rash was from being so heavy growing up.

This past year, I've made a connection. Inflamation after eating wheat PLUS the older I get, the more the rash also appears on my inner arms.

I just need to be pointed in the right direction, but I am against the government doctors. I am interested in using a more natural way to help this.

I've noticed after omitting gluten for awhile & then eating it, I couldnt even walk straight, my speech was slurred, a huge mental fog, etc. The very next day, my heat & pain from head to toe started.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone??

I haven't had any symptoms with my intolerance but it sounds like you at least have gluten intolerance which is still gluten free for life.

It sounds like you have either a gluten intolerance or a wheat allergy, or maybe both. You can have gluten intolerance that isn't celiac disease, however, gluten intolerance would still mean gluten-free for life.

If you prefer to treat your own diseases using the most natural method available, you've come to the right place. I am self-diagnosed - no doctors involved. What could be more natural than changing your diet to eliminate the foods that bother you, replacing them with healthy, whole foods?

I was just hoping to hear 1) I'm not crazy & 2) I'm not alone

I want to know that this stuff really does make sense. It's REAL, ya know? NOT my imagination.

I've had the inner thigh rash since about 10. I wasnt stunted in my growth, but my body wanted to OVERcompensate with food. I had an appetite that could not be tamed. I'm starting to look at this as one of those things where my body doubled the amount of food intake (or tripled, if you will) to make up for some loss?

No heavy diaareah (sp?) My problem has always been constipation.

I'm doing the renew life cleanses. The fiber is a Godsend. It's been pretty amazing stuff. The more I cleanse, the more gluten free I can manage. Cold turkey is really rough when your colon is holding onto all those toxins, ya know??

I discovered Kinnikinikk bread (tapioca rice flour) Havent tried the others, but man that stuff s amazing.

What about white rice?? I've heard it's ok, but I had all the gluten symptoms listed above after eating it.

You're NOT crazy and you're not alone. You are lucky that you have made the connection before you went through any debilatating gi symptoms. You chances for getting any accurate testing ends when you start the gluten free diet. You may now notice your body will react more if you accidentally ingest gluten, and you will probably never want to do a gluten challenge for any further testing.

Are you saying it could be possible that I could be a celiac? I thought I would have to go through a lot of what others here are (the serious stuff) But I have noticed it was getting progressivly worse. My mother- she hardly eats & weighs 260 pounds, has fibro, etc. Myself included- I can eat the best lean cuisine meal & run for MILES< but I will still be considered obese & have so many ailments.

I was gluten/wheat free for 1 week straight. I lost 10 pounds just like that *snaps* I should have continued. It was the breakfast wth my husband that he wanted to go to together that threw me off. The pancakes did me in.

And... yes I noticed how rough it is once getting off the path. My Goodness, that was some rough stuff. I'm just so afraid of consuming something hidden. I know it's best not to eat something that I"m unsure of, that way there's nothing to worry about, but I cant help but feel so overwhelmed. I'll conquer it. Just gotta kick in that determination.

At the health food store I see so many ppl eating a gluten free diet. I just didnt know if any of MY symptoms made sense to anyone. Nothing else seems to affect it. I can eat a wheat/gluten free brownie at 20 grams of fat each & still drop a pound on the scale. My body seems to rejoice when I back off the stuff.

I'm 30 years old & hope it's not silly to say I'm ready to live the life I was meant to have. That week I spoke about above (when I was gluten/wheat free), I was actually considering it a new birthday! I was a whole new person!!

Anybody could be a celiac. Considering that 1% of the population may have it, and only a small percentage of them are diagnosed, you probably know lots of celiacs.

If your body doesn't like gluten, don't eat gluten! :D:D It sounds like the perfect solution for you. Not all celiacs are skinny. Many lose weight when their bodies start to work properly on the gluten-free diet.

I'm overweight as well, althought only slightly because ever since going gluten-free I've been slowly but steadily losing weight! You're not the only one!

LJannise, you are saying that rice will give you the same kinds of symptoms as gluten. You may be intolerant to ALL grains, not just the ones with gluten. Check out the link on lectins in my signature, it may help figure it out.

You certainly don't sound crazy. I believe that you are definitely gluten intolerant, and probably have a wheat allergy as well. Because itching in your mouth and throat when eating indicates an allergy. I get those, it's called oral allergy syndrome.

      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

      My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!

      I think sometimes the pain described here can be a result of a sort of 'perfect storm' of contributing factors.  Recently I had an appalling bout of lower back pain, lower burning gut pain and what felt like cramps.  I then started to think about what could have caused it and I realised it was several things that had set it off: I'd been carrying heavy luggage (back strain); I had been sitting down in a car for too long and wearing a tight belt (I have pudendal nerve issues and sacroiliac issues and this exacerbates the pain), and I had bloating and burning pain in my colon caused by eating too much soy, latte and caffeine, I guess putting further pressure in the lower abdomen.  I had this same pain prior to my diagnosis and a couple of years post-diagnosis, I'd quite forgotten how unpleasant it was.

      HI @Kirbyqueen That's great news your insurance will be kicking in soon.  Sorry to see that you have been dealing with this for six months now, but I do hope you have managed to find some relief with some of the suggestions in the meantime. Perhaps come back and let us know what the doctor says. Cristiana

      I agree, and hopefully your doctor will contact you soon about the next step, which will likely be an endoscopy to confirm your diagnosis. Do you have celiac disease symptoms?
