I was diagnosed and have been on the diet for a little over a week. Weight-loss and D were the primary reasons I went to the doctor. I'm about 15-20 pounds under my typical weight and probably 30-35 under my ideal weight for my height.

The diet has certainly stabilized the stomach issues and I'm feeling really good only a week into this. From a logical standpoint I understand that I really can't expect my weight to start coming back up so soon, but I'm illogically wondering if it ever will.

From reading other threads, I know some struggle maintaining a healthy weight on the diet. Has anyone had troubles purposely getting weight back on?
I am NOT a celiac. I have Celiac Disease, but it is not who I am.

It has taken me about three years to put on weight. I think it might be that our bodies are very depleted by the time we are diagnosed and also I don't find gluten free food to have quite as many calories as other food does.

but it can't be that because it's rare!"

I have not been able to gain, and it's driving me crazy! I was diagnosed at the beginning of Jan, and I really need to gain. Right now, I'm about 100 lbs, and I have tried so hard to gain. I know that I am getting some nutrition, because I have grown about 1.5 inches in about 2 months (from 5'8" to 5'9.5").
According to my dr, I am about 40 lbs under my ideal weight for my height (not taking account the fact that I have a really small build). I am about 10 lbs under my typical weight from when I was 5'8" (but I don't know if that was the weight I shuld have been, due to the fact that I have probably had celiac since I was a young child).

I'm going to my dr tomorrow to address my weight issues.

From what I have read, I think I'm in the minority. I believe that most people start to gain somewhere between a few weeks and a few months of going gluten-free (it depends on how long it takes for the persons intestines to heal). Hang in there, you should start to gain soon.
