I got the results of my bt while on vacation, but stopped to pick them up today so I can take them to the GI with me in August. I'm a bit aprehensive about continuing to eat gluten for another month when I already know that I feel better when I don't eat it.

However, my bt results are questionable. But, not so much. I just don't know what to think. Can anyone shed any light on this for me??

tTG IgA (<5) = 3

Gliadin IgG (<11) = 69

Gliadin IgA (<11) = 6

tTg IgG (<7) =3

EMA - Negative

TT IgA = normal = 70-400 = mine was 331

Obviously the numbers in () are there normal reference ranges.

The paperwork says that no additional testing is indicated. But, that one number - which I realize is the least "celiac specific" but it's still pretty high.

the dietary challenge is the most important one. if you know you do better off gluten, then remain gluten free.

I'm so wishy washy with this. You are right, totally. I know I feel better without it, so why do I keep questioning everything?? This is frustrating. I'm having NO problem keeping it out of my daughter's diet. Why can't I do the same for myself?? I don't want to be sentanced to a life of constantly running (like a madman) to the bathroom every 20 minutes. Why do I do this to myself?

My blood test results were very similar to yours (except they didn't run the total IgA or EMA on me). My dr told me to go on a gluten-free diet and what a difference it has made. I haven't felt this good in years! Then I saw a GI who wanted to do an endoscopy, but I couldn't fathom going back to eating gluten for that. The dietary response and bloodwork is enough for me.

Because you're human. Maybe a little bit of denial? I was dx'd nearly 10 yrs ago by diet challeng alone. That was good enough for my gp then, and no other dr's have questioned the dx since. (except one internist that I don't see anymore) Do the diet challenge. If it works and you start to feel better, you'll be able to stick with it easier. It's the first step that's the hardest with it. But you know that we'll all be here for you. And doesn't your family deserve a healthy parent that can do things with and for them? And don't you deserve to be as healthy as you can be to enjoy life more?

I'm pretty sure that in stores, you can find plenty of gluten-free options. But they are usually a bit more expensive.

Hello @BunnyBrown and welcome to the forum. I cannot say that I have had the procedure you describe, but recently I did have general surgery and was routinely intubated.  That pain was what troubled me most after the operation, far more than the operation site.  It took a few days to really settle down, I was quite badly bruised. It was taking so long I was a bit concerned so asked the question on another forum. A few patients came back to me and said they had suffered the same.  I imagine in my own case possibly the throat got bashed about a bit,  maybe they had difficult inserting the tube?  I've suffered with a painful throat post-endoscopy too, but never as long as the intubation pain.   I hope you will be feeling better very soon.   PS BTW - love the name!  I saw this today in an Easter display in a shop and your name reminded me of it.🙂

This wonderful, Anne. I think you have a point about why people disappear off forums.  I found the first few years post diagnosis a real struggle and frankly wondered if I would ever feel better (not to dishearten people, but just to say it can take a while longer for some folk to heal).  However, once my antibodies were back within normal range it really has made a big difference to my health.  I've chosen to stick around because I'm a Mod, otherwise I might have been one of those that disappeared, too!
