Any Problems With Whole Foods Gluten Free Bakehouse Line? Rate Topic: -----

I suspect I was glutened from the Whole Foods white sandwich bread I've been eating. I've been keeping a log, and over the past 6 days I've had toast 4 times. Within 2-3 hours I've been horribly sick. On the days when I didn't eat the toast, I was starting to feel better. I know they have a dedicated bakery, but I suspect I've been glutened from this loaf of bread. Have you had any problems?

Hi Jen,

I'm sorry you had problems with that bread - that must be so frustrating. I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know how it is going to affect me. When I do, I'll try to come back here and let you know.

I had trouble after eating toast (different kind of bread) and I wondered if I should have gotten myself a new toaster, free of all the crumbs and gluten that may be baked into the sides and so forth. Awful thought, but a reality. What did you put on your toast? Could it be that?

Jen--I also had problems with that bread. In my case, I didn't think the problem was gluten. There is dairy and tapioca in it, and I have determined that I'm sensitive to those, as well as grains. Could there be an ingredient in the bread that you are reacting to? Just a thought :)

I have to avoid almost all of their stuff due to diary. Not to mention it has a lot of fat and sugar. But the stuff I can (and have) had hasn't been a problem for me.

I've never had the bread. I do LOVE their cherry almond muffins. I have not had any trouble with them. Possibly you have some other intollerances?

Hi guys,
thanks for writing back. I have been tested for food allergies and the only thing that came up as an intolerance was soy. That's not in the bread. I have a dedicated toaster, so I don't think that's it either. I've been raking my brain and can't seem to discover what it is about the bread. Everything else I've been eating is also gluten free, so I don't know what it is. So frustration though.... I"ll keep searching

I'm guessing that you didn't eat dry plain toast. What did you put on your toast? Butter, jelly, peanutbutter? was it contaminated? Did it contain soy ? Just a thought.
