Hi,

It's been awhile since I've been here - big hi to everyone :)

I'm thinking of trying the SCD to get rid of food allergies and feel better. I've heard great things about it from people with digestive trouble, but not so much from people who have celiac. I've heard it can be too rich (nuts, fats, etc) to digest easily. I've also heard it's really great.

I'm going to get the book tomorrow. I've read some stuff online. But I'd like to hear from actual celiacs (!) what they thought of it. So if you've tried it, please write!!

I tried the SCD, actually before figuring out I was Celiac. Personally, I had great results with it. Within a week, most of my digestive troubles had vanished. You almost have to like nuts to be able to stick with the diet, as you will be using primarily nut flour in any baking you do on the SCD. Bean flour is allowed after the gut has healed a bit.

The main problem is staying on the diet for an extended amount of time. It's not that you necessarily have to spend a lot of money at the grocery store (you can just do plain meat and veggies, salads, etc) but there is extra prep involved, as there are very few prepared items that you will be able to consume on the SCD.

There is an active SCD community that has really worked hard to come up with tasty recipes.

Once I get back my latest food allergy results, I will probably do the SCD for a month as a way to clean my system out and get back to a base level.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
