Hi all,
I'm pretty new to this, it's been a week and a half so far, gluten and dairy free. So far so good, I actually feel great!!! Anyway, I've noticed on a lot of my do not eat lists and a list from my dr. it said soy sauce is a no no since there is wheat in it. Yet on so many gluten free recipes I see soy sauce listed, including the recipes on www.eatingglutenfree.com Can someone clarify this for me??? Also, has anyone had any problems with the Thai Kitchen's garlic rice noodle bowl? It is gluten free so I tried it for a quick lunch and had the worst stomach attack I've EVER had.

Soy Sauce? Gluten Free?

I buy wheat-free soy sauce from the health food store. I still check the label, to make sure there's nothing else in the ingredients that would have gluten.
I bought some Thai Kitchen gluten-free microwaveable meal one time and felt bad later, but I don't remember what the name of the meal was, and I was pretty newly gluten-free at the time, so I can't be sure that the Thai Kitchen thing was really what made me feel bad. I haven't really wanted to try any more of those since, though. Sometimes stuff that's supposedly "gluten-free" seems to bother me, again, I'm never quite sure since I've only been at this for 8 months.
One time I was sick for about 3 weeks after I'd eaten Japanese Daifukus during a weekend. You can see starch all over the oustides of those things. But I'd read the wrappers several times and it only said potato starch. Maybe they weren't really what did it to me that time, but I just felt so bad for 3 weeks that I've never felt like I wanted another Daifuku after that.
I find it hard to tell what's bothering me if I've only eaten the thing once. But I don't feel like following through with any further experiments if I'm suspicious either!

I eat thai's instant noodles all the time with no trouble. I've never had their bowls or boxed noodles though.
La Choy soy sauce is gluten-free.
Here's a link to Thai Kitchen's Allergen Info webpage. Looks like their garlic noodle bowl is gluten-free. There is a stir fry savory garlic noodle meal that's not gluten-free.

Tamari wheat free soy sauce is great!
Double check the ingredients but it is also not as salty as regular Soy Sauce which is good with me.
