I have been starting from scratch with everything to find the contamination. My dr. has prescribed Lomotil for the chronic diarrhea. Since I am checking EVERY medication, I want to check this one also. One would think since a GI specialist prescribed it, that he would KNOW it is gluten-free, but I am not taking any chances anymore.

All the sites that I know of listing gluten-free medication does not list Lomotil... Can anyone find out if this is safe?

Thanks!

OMG! Look at this!!!!

And my gastro specialist prescribed Lomotil to me!!!!

http://www.glutenfre.../Glutenlist.htm

This site clearly states that Lomotil contains gluten!!

I can't believe this - I figured I would try today again with the Lomotil because I have been on the gluten/lactose/sugar/caffeine free diet for one week now and thought maybe the Lomotil had a chance to work now....

As soon as I took it, I felt a reaction....... couldn't figure out why, figured if my GI doctor prescribed it, it must be okay, so much for that thinking!!!!

I am furious!!!

Okay, took a Lomotil this morning, which was prescribed by my gastro specialist - and lo and behold, instant reaction. Now I find out Lomotil contains gluten!!

How can I minimize this reaction? Drink lots of water? Help!
