Thought I would try to sneak out at 2:30, but I'm the only one here. Weirdest frickin' job I have ever had.

Sounds like the best job ever! No one to answer to, no one gives a crap! :P

Not sure if homeowners or car insurance pay for damage caused by falling space debris.

wow, must pop back in more often. just spent a few weeks pre-GRE studying (kicked that baby over the moon) and haven't been around. like, not cleaning or playing on internet except for cookbook marketing around. have been physically present, relearning geometry (I know! knew it when I was 14.) Didn't even use it much on the exam either. got all the stats questions except for one which I just needed a little more time to get it. bah...

cute new chick pics. All the college kids doing well?

BTW, pb sandwiches without jelly? Isn't that bordering on cruel? At least let 'em have apple slices. Or dill pickles. Dill pickles + pb = excellent. English muffin pizzas are also a great solution to the will only eat pizza dilemna, too. For grown-ups, too...

Anybody get a new car ;-p?

Dill pickles + pb = excellent.

This is SO true. Even when not pregnant. In fact, peanut butter goes with absolutely anything except mushrooms.

I knew there was a reason I didn't like it  And with chocolate, especially, it is an abomination

Mygawd, you have forgotten these top-of-the-listers:

Penis slings

Phart charting

Bad-ass Snow Poodles

Poo Chunks

Funny, but when the search is on for these words, only the Psillyville thread comes up. Wild......can you believe that?.. . . ...

Phart charts laugh.gif... Good times!

Poo Chunks ??? unsure.gif ..were they a band name?

Gads, trying to catch up ...but phlippin' 'eck!!! Raechelle has the patience of a saint!!!! wink.gif

Bloomin' interwebz keeps dying on me. Have nae the mental strength to ring the call centre (in Mumbai) blink.gif

********************************************************************

Somewhat stressful times here...

My Mum's had another stroke (she was in Spain on holiday vacation)

She & my Dad were finally allowed to fly home on Wednesday (with a nurse, thankfully they had decent travel insurance!)

Anyhoo, she's lost the sight in her left eye and is very confused and disorientated dry.gif

.....in other news Son of Psilly (AKA Alzy) hasn't been well .

Still not sure what's wrong, it's like he's had flu for 3/4 weeks. No energy, not eating properly.

Leg pain, and more worryingly massive swollen lymph node in his neck and stomach.

Waiting for varying tests (scans and biopsies of lumps in Oct) ...feels like I'm doing all the pushing at the docs. Been fobbed off with 2 rounds of antibiotics already for him rolleyes.gif

Ok, moan over - back to psilly!!

Toot sweet!!

Wow! That's rough and very unpsilly! Poor thing.

I suppose they tested Alzy for mono. Sounds just like my neice's mono. Went on & on. Swollen glands, sore joints, sooo tired. Hope they figure something out soon.

Deadlines are all in the Dec 15 to Jan 15 range. Still struggling a bit to figure out where I would fit well with faculty interests and the oh-too-rare funding for more social-based, non-molecular nutrition. There's not really a perfect solution, and the most enthusiastic prof I met in out West, but it'll be a serious move to leave the east coast.

Great sympathy for a mono sufferer... not fun at all.

Gnick! :(  So sorry to hear about your sick li'l family -- hugs to you, Al and yer mum. Man, I've been there with a stroke-stricken mother.......'tis tough.

Well, if only I'd known about these family concerns yesterday, Gnick -- Prime Minister Cameron was hanging around in Ottawa for the day, had dinner at the Governor General's residence and gave a couple of addresses.... ....I could have plowed into the scrum, grabbed a mic and demanded that he look into your mom's and Alzy's situations.... . ..... . .

He hasn't got much else going on.....

Having Aplle Cider and sweet potato chips for dinner. Have planed a R/Udi's cinnamon raisin toast test taste for brekky.

This was in the National PARK, not forest. They have potties, well marked trails, helpful rangers discussing your hiking route and asking about mountain goats (a wild goat killed a guy last year, so they want to know if you saw any). Of course I don't see anyone until after my hike, 'cause I start early before anything opens. I was the third car in the lot, and at least one was the maintenance guy opening the building. Lots of folks on the trail on the way back though.

Funny how a long walk in the sun and wind (serious winds at the top, hence the name Hurricane Ridge) can turn your brain to mush. Also pretty high, so maybe some oxygen deprivation too.

Do I look refreshed?? . . . just back from the annual girls trip to Hilton Head. Man does time fly when there is no homework, no kids, no dinner preperation, no hubby . . . ahhhhhhhh.

GKnick!! Sorry to hear about all the troubles over thar!! I must admit that my first thought on Al-Zee was mono but I would have thought they would have tested for that. Hugs and warm thoughts being hurtled your way.

    • Personally, I would ask for the full Celiac panel and see what that shows.  I mean, the full Monty, not just cherry picking testing.  On the full panel, if the tTg and the EMA come back positive, that is a diagnosis without biopsy.  This is how I was diagnosed and there is absolutely no doubt I have Celiac.  I presented with classic celiac so it was a no brainer with my blood results. If you cannot stick to the diet religiously, without cheating, unless you have a biopsy picture, then I would go on to have a biopsy.  Like your daughter, I was way too sick to have one done at the time.  They would not have agreed to use sedation because I was so anemic and malnourished and that ended that!  Good luck with whatever you decide!
    • This Asian-style barbeque chicken makes a great summer treat. Barbecue chicken is a perennial summer favorite around these parts, and this recipe delivers barbecue chicken with a decidedly Asian flare. View the full article
    • And as for the green stools, you said you eat a lot of kale and spinach?  A generous, daily diet of kale and spinach will be reflected in the bathroom.  You are what you eat.
    • I just traveled three weeks this summer in Europe (Eastern).  Do not trust that the airlines will remember to load a gluten-free meal for you.  There is a 50-50 chance that they will not (in my experience).  We packed ONLY carry on.  Still found plenty of room to stash some emergency food.  You should be able to find food within an International airport.  Chips and typical junk food clearly labeled, even fruit.  Print or load Celiac travel cards with you in all the languages you will need.  They are free.  Google it.  Found these handy (not only in restaurants) but in the markets when we could not read labels but the staff could read them and Help us to make gluten-free choices.  amazing how you can communicate without knowing the language.  A few words like "thank you" in their language go along way (so does Google Translator).  Never met anyone who was not willing to help.   I carry a collapsible cooler that I pack with food and bags of ice to eat on then plane or right at my arrival or connection.  I take extra zip lock baggies with me.  Sometimes TSA will let you through if the ice is still hard (not melting).  Some will make you toss them then I just ask a restaurant to refill my ziplock baggies after passing Security.   I also carry a doctor's letter on my phone to show I am celiac, but no one has ever asked for me to present it.   Even though I carry a "third" piece of luggage on board, I have not been stopped.  Both that and my day backpack fit under the seat.  I use this cooler as needed through our trips.  If not, it fits in my backpack.
    • Welcome, Kierra. You're only 15 so you need to make sure your parents are 100% aware of your medical issues so that they can advocate for you. It may or may not be celiac, but the only way to find out is to start with a full celiac blood panel, then an endoscope if necessary. However, for the tests to be accurate, you must consume gluten on a daily basis.
