I read this & then said out loud " Ain't that the truth!". Then I looked at the next post & that's exactly what Patti said!

Thanks for the good thoughts.

The rehab docs name is Dr Burger. He kept telling her his name and she acted like she didn't hear. When he left she said , " He didn't look like a hamburger!". She will now call him the Hamburger Docotor.

Oh, Kherrighnne....:(....I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. Been there -- it's a rough go, being the advocate for a newly vulnerable, needy parent. But what great news, their prediction that she should respond well to rehab.... .. ...we were told the same thing with my mom after her stroke, and lo and behold, she made significant recovery after three months of intensive work. I'm really hopeful for you! :):)

This made me laugh! It reminds me of something my dear friend Hazel would have said. :D

She isn't but she won't get tested. If she is, it isn't her worst issue.

Hope they let us decorate her room for Xmas! trying to decide if we should go tasteful or gaudy! I don't think she will like gaudy so I better decorate before J gets home from college! He & M believe the more sparkle & shiny, the better.

My dad was in the hospital one holiday season and I didn't even ask, just marched in with lights n' stuff and put them up. I did use synthetic greenery in case of allergies, but that was about my only concession.

Well, I thought we might be welcoming a new monarch today, but the karma worked out differently. Karen will continue as Queen of the Psillies for another hundred pages.

This is un- Psilly but I guess this is where to put it.

My mom has some heart issues. A Fib occasionally and an aortic heart valve that functions at about 30%. We have been managing this and we're planning to enroll in a study of a percutaneous replacement valve.

Tuesday night, she had a stroke. At first, it didn't look too bad. Then Wed, she had some odd heart emzymes and a bleed was showing up in her brain. As of today it seems she isn't as bad as it looked yesterday. It appears her left arm, leg and side of her face are affected. She has some movement. The Rehab doc saw her this evening. He thinks she can regain most of her function with rehab.

Anyway, that's what's been going on here.

Dear Kareng,

We'll be keeping her and your whole family in our prayers. For some reasons the holidays uually bring some sort of catastrophe. I guess it goes with the territory. We're al so busy trying to get everything ready.

As for where to post this, I look at this thread as a place to laugh and to hang out with my psilly family even though what we need to share isn't always psilly. I'm recuperating from surgery but it wasn't what they thought so more tests and possibly more surgery. I did throw a pity party yesterday but today I plan on laughing. Last night Clark showed me an ad for a rubber scrotum ($160) so you can learn to self check. The responses were funnier than the product and we both felt better after we laughed so hard that we cried.

Please keep us posted on your mom and Rachelle keep being the brave warrior that you are.

We all love you!!! wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

OK, Clark just emailed me the link to the product and one review. I trust Peoter or any other moderator t decide if it's appropriate to post. All I know is I needed a good laugh and this did it.

Love, Loey & Clark

This was sent to Clark from his best Bro and below is a customer review and the link to the product. I'll understand if it's too inappropriate to post.

Not only a wonderful teaching model, but while trying to find the tumors, I discovered, it acts as a makeshift stress ball! When I am in line at the grocery store I just whip out this handy little bugger and squeeze away....the line around me just dissapears...what an effective little doo dad!

Finally, a rubber scrotum that I can use for exam training purposes. My room mate was going "nuts" (pardon the pun) because I kept trying to use his. I wish he wasn't such a light sleeper. Oh well.

I certainly can't find a better way to spend a hundred and sixty five bucks than on a rubber scrotum. Hell, at that price they're practically giving them away! You'd have to be NUTS not to buy one! Now I can take a break from squeezing my own scrotum constantly and give the little bugger a breather. Take the plunge folks, coz you're sure to have a BALL with

YAY!!! THE NEW QUEEN IS PASSING OUT RUBBER SCROTA!!

Kitties is back from their trip to the vet (2nd round of shots) and all went well. No diarrhea all over the carrier today. Babies are relaxing after the traumatic morning, and Bo is pacing, perhaps trying to figure out how to spin the fact that he spent his time in the exam room cowering behind the carrier whilst the babies scooted around and checked things out. Molly even jumped up on the exam table to comfort Bo after her shot was done.

Bo is a whopping 17 pounds, while Molly is just under 4 1/2.

YAY!!!!!! I FINALLY had something psilly to contribute. When I told Clark I was posting it online but didn't know if it was allowed he told me it's on Amazon. So, fellow psillies you don't have to even leave the comfort of your home to buy this wonderful toy. Hmmm... I wonder if they sell female parts?

When Clark showed it to me we laughed so hard I was sure I split a stitch. Off to Xmas shop today then back to testing this week. Endoscopy on Tuesday. At least it doesn't entail cutting.

I miss you all.

Love, Loey

P.S. Karenggh - how's your mom doing?

I'm hoping that the mall we go to has a Spencer Gifts. They have a whole stock of outrageous gifts. I also have time to order him the scrotum.

Love,

Loey

Does anyone else get soaking wet sweats just out of nowhere? I’m not in menopause, there’s nothing wrong with me except celiac disease and my thyroid, and I’m taking my medicine. I am 18 days gluten-free but I cannot stop sweating and it makes me freezing cold and I’m soaking wet and changing my clothes literally as I’m changing my clothes the new clothes are soaking wet and nobody will help me. Please somebody out there help me.

Sometimes I end up spitting out a drink of water! But for the most part I do ok with the liquids that I've been sticking to which Is hardly anything carbonated (meaning diet soda mainly)  I drink alot of tea which I make myself lipton cold brew sweetened with half sugar and half Splenda, smoothies when I could in the beginning but made with milk so I'm now using orange juice instead of the milk but it doesn't workout real often I drink black coffee in the mornings with no trouble usually and I've been experimenting with some juices but the sugar content is a set back I'm not a huge water fan but will drink it unfortunately where I live I can't do the tap water I'm the only one who has a problem with it apparently but for some reason I just can't...unless I'm using it in coffee or tea and the tea even took me some time to stand yes I have thought about boost/ ensure but they are very costly for someone who is scrapping the bottom at this time

Do you believe your swallowing is a manifestation of your neuropathy? I'm thinking if you are having trouble getting food down you need to focus on consuming things that have a high nutritional density so that whatever you are able to get down counts for something. Have you looked at Boost and other high protein/high calorie shake products?  They are fortified with vitamins and minerals as well. Do you have any trouble with aspiration of liquids? For celiac testing purposes, the guidelines are calling for daily consumption of about 10gm of gluten - the amount in about 4-6 slices of bread - in order to ensure valid testing. That sounds like it would be a challenger for you.

Thank you and I am aware that I should be eating a "normal" diet until tested it's kind of been trial and error for my diet or more like just ERROR! I about 1-3 bites a meal I'm to a point that 99 percent of the time I'm having trouble swallowing just about everything occasionally I find either something or a very small window of time that allows me to get very little of something! I am basically getting zero nutrition what so ever because I take one bite of the meal that I usually just slaved over just to end up tossing it when it's all said and done...did anyone else ever experience anything like this?  I am more then open to suggestions! It is taking a very extreme toll on me and my body forsure
