Okay so I got glutened by my friend which was sad and ruined my weekend but I'm feeling well enough that I can go to work but my stomach is still very unhappy and aside from still being a bit uncomfortable its making this horrible gurgling sounds that are very embarassing!!! Help - does anything stop this ---- I want to crawl under my desk!

Bathroom time and about 4 imodiums works for me - 2 to start then another one or two as needed later (apparently I am the only one I know of that it does't mess me up for DAYS). I just seems to amke me a little closer to normal.

I'll second the Immodium suggestion. That stuff has saved my life more than once! :D

nope, nothing much stops it for me, but coughing probably isn't going to help much, in that it will just tense up other abdominal muscles that won't necessarily be good for you in the long run (something I've learned the hard way, having under-treated cough-variant asthma). eh... it's fairly 'normal' body noises (in a little more than normal quantity/volume, at this point ;) )

Some intestinal sounds are normal. If they are real loud, perhaps eating several smaller meals and make sure they are gluten free always. I have had this disease for a very long time and was finally diagnosed in 1976. I had many loud intestional noises and pain, plus many other symptoms as you will know from your own experience with this disease. I have it under control by eating smaller meals; always gluten free; I get plenty of rest; try and stay away from anything caffeinated ,especially soda pop. I am looking for a Celiac that has had a Whpple Operation with a diagnosis of Adencarcinoma. Thank you

A few people on here have suggested Digestive Enzymes, which i might try. I will say that L-Glutamine (e free form of natural amino acids) supplements are working great to repair the damage that has been done to my intestinal tract ;)

I was just reading that Dr. Fine likes (and recommends) Culturelle - which is Lactobacillus. :)

Hi K2D,

After having bad reactions to prescription and over the counter medicines, I now believe in natural ways. I've found a little warm beverage at the end of each meal helps in digestion. It keeps any oils and stuff from getting hard or sludgey before they have a chance to go thru the intestines. It kind of helps things to keep right on moving.

My tummy is like a load speaker when I have been been unfortunate to get ahold of the dreaded gluten or when I have to hurry up and eat. No one really wants to just drink warm water so I put a little mint extract (non-alcoholic) or Celestial Seasons pepermint tea bag in it. That will calm the tummy and keep things going smoothly. It might help you. If it is in the evening I also add Chamomile to help relax me so the grumbley bear goes away. L-Glutamin as Irish Kelly said also helps. I do that too.

This is a great group of people with pretty darn good ideas that show someone out there cares. I'll keep my fingers crossed that at least one of them will work for you.

Oh, my gurgling tummy has put me in SUCH embarrassing situations! It likes to gurgle in symphony concerts--ALWAYS at the softest moments. I dread pianissimos....

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.

Hmm interesting I just assumed that any “IGA” tests including the DPG iga would be negative in a person who is IGA deficient but maybe that is not the case for the DPG test.

If you were just diagnosed I can say that if you go 100% gluten-free should should see dramatic improvement of your symptoms over the next few months, but the hard part is to stay gluten-free. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
