Ok.. I finally convinced Colins doctor to have him checked for celiacs. I just want to know if he carries the gene for it at this point. Colin has been gluten free since birth and he is now 18 months. I just really dont like the idea of giving him gluten for a long time so he can be tested. I just cant justify in my mind hurting him to find out.

The doctor gave us an RX for lab work. I dont know much about how this lab work works.. she is asking for a Celiac disease antibody profile. Does that include the gene? The regular stuff they test for wont show up as he is already gluten free right?

I dont know what to do. I dont think I could in good conscience serve him gluten. HELP!

I'm willing to bet it does NOT include a gene test and is the regular celiac panel. Did you talk to the doctor about whether or not that includes a gene test? I think you're right in that since he's gluten free the blood tests will show nothing unless it's a test for dna/genes.

      Trying to read my lab results

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
