I just started a gluten-free diet. I love Italian foods, especially pizza. Is there a restaurant on eastern long island that has gluten free menus? PLEASE HELP!

This diet is driving me crazy! I LOVE BREAD AND PASTA

ABSOLUTELY!! Mama's in Oakdale has a gluten free menu that is quite extensive. They also have pizza which I have not tried. I was there a few weeks ago and the chef made gluten free raviolis as the special and they were AMAZING!!! He actually came to the table to see how I liked them. I know there is also Carrabbas in Smithtown area as well. There are also two legal sea foods on long island, outbacks, and PF Changs that all have gluten free menus. Another great Italian place is Cafe Baldo in Wantaugh - they also ahve gluten-free menu.

Good Luck!!

Thank you so much! I live in the ridge, rocky point area, so that's not too far away. I will have to try both the ravioli and the pizza.

Yup Mamma's is great for pastas and deserts.

If you like steak check out J&R's. I live right behind the place and am there about once a week. Any of the unmarinated steaks with a baked potato or veggie. Haven't had a problem other then the steak with shrimp scampi. The shrimp were breaded.

mama's is the best better then baldo's in my opinon. that being said i have never had better ravioli then the safe harbor foods brand. i have only found them at b wells in plainview, not sure if it is there own brand or not. call before you go, they seem to run out quickly. ;)

It is not possible to say enough amazing things about Mama's. They are beyond incredible!! The owner was telling me before the holidays that he was planning on making gluten free ravioli after the new year. I'm so psyched to hear he's making them now. Looks like I may be going there tomorrow. :P

I actually come from Westchester to go there; that's how good it is.

Also, I don't know how often you are in the city, but you have to go to Risotteria for pizza.

Thank you all! My husband and I went to Mama's last night, and you are all so right. They were wonderful. I had the ravioli and my husband had veal parmasan with spaghetti. They both were amazing! The owner came to the table to talk to us and he was so friendly. Everyone there was so friendly and pleasent, plus the atmostphere was so nice. He said they also make canolis, can't wait to try them.

Again, thank you all.

Next, we're going to the Outback.

I've been making bread from a mix called Gluten-Free Pantry. It's very good and the bread from Mama's tasted just like it.

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
