:D I'm celiac and was having bad days for the last 10 months. However I started to take glutenease by enzymedica with my meals at home as well as eating out. The enyzme works really great for me, I have n't been brave enough to delibrately try wheat bread instead of gluten-free bread. I took a trip to New Orleans during the mardi-gra and I ate fried shrimp with no problems at all.

Hi.
If you're celiac, I can't help but ask- Why in the world would you try wheat bread? Yikes. If you are diagnosed you can NEVER eat wheat products again- they damage your intestine. Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote. I take those enzymes sometimes as well, not sure of my body's response to them.

Unless you've got documentation stating exactly where in the peptide chain the gluten protein is being broken down - and it occurs somewhere pretty close to the middle of the 33-mer that kicks off the autoimmune reaction in the intestines - the enzyme will *not* reduce damage to your intestines. Celiac is NOT an enzyme deficiency like lactose intolerance, it is an autoimmune response.
