I am wondering if anyone else has heard that Bob's is going to start producing gluten free oats? My good friend works for Whole Foods and was at a natural foods show last weekend. She heard that they will be producing gluten free oats as early as October. Can it be true?? I would love that. I just love his products and would be so pleased if I could eat safe (and affordable) oats again! If anyone else has heard this... let us know!

Some celiacs react to oats and some studies seem to indicate that even those of us who don't show symptoms may (or not) have reactions.

Cross Contamination. This is probably what they think they're addressing. However, some folks on here have posted difficulties with Bob's on cross contamination on their gluten-free products. I haven't had any problem with them, but I am apparently not as sensitive as others

If they are routinely batch tested, I might give it a try, but just the labeling....I doubt it. Oh, and watch out for the "codex" backdoor!

Well, I sure love his products and haven't had any problems with them in the past. I emailed the company to see what the story is and was told that they are not sure when, but are working to find safe oats and are putting measures in place to offer these. I'm so excited! I miss oatmeal so much... not to mention oatmeal cookies!!!!

I bought a box a McCains oats, I heard they are safe, but I'm a baby and everytime I go to make it I chicken out lol

I eat McCains Oats every once and awhile! Just like you, I "chicken out" sometimes...I would say maybe once every other month, I'll have some McCains...

I Like Bob's stuff, and have never had an issue (that I'm aware of)... so that would be good. As long as it's not in BIG quantity's I think oats for me are OK (minus the CC issue)

Bob's Red Mill is not currently producing gluten free oats. It is our hope that we will be able to bring you gluten free oats in the near future. We are in the process of exploring safe sources of oats where we are confident that the proper practices are in place from field to delivery. We will move forward when we feel that we can continue to bring the celiac community the safest and highest quality gluten free foods available.

Cluck, Cluck. I have seen another brand of certified gluten free oats at Henrys' (part of the Wild Oats Chain). I have been to chicken to buy them.

bob's red mill has a dedicated gluten-free area for their gluten free products---so i don't think that CC is a big problem. we use gluten free oats without a problem, and one of my girls seems to be fairly sensitive. we have also used McCain's instant packets without a problem.
