I don't know of any places to eat, since I've never been there, but I would suggest you print out a card in French that says what you can't eat and why (unless of course you speak French and are confident you can make the wait staff understand your needs and communicate them to the chef). I'm under the impression that bread is a staple at every meal, and you might have a few problems with that.

Maybe someone who has been there has some good suggestions for you.

God bless,

Mariann

i was there for 4 nights this summer and i had a pretty tough time to be honest. my concierge printed out gluten free information for me in french (which unfortunately for me also included casein for some reason, i don't have trouble with milk but whatever). we went to a restaurant called Scossa, address: 8 pl. Victor Hugo (i happen to have a matchbox so that's definitely the address!!) where i had a waiter who spoke perfect english and i had 2 really great gluten-free meals there.

even with the info printed out in french, and although this may ruin the french experience a little bit for you, i would recommend going places where they speak english really well (unless of course you speak french!) also if you're doing any tours, let them know ahead of time if there's food included.

The book Against the Grain by Jax Peters Lowell has a French language "wheat allergy/gluten intolerance" card in the back. If you don't have this book, you might be able to get a copy from your local library and could copy that page. It might help.

I hope you have a wonderful trip! :D

God bless,

Mariann

I went to Paris several years ago with the French language card. I had no problems whatsoever. I ate many phenomenal meals and really enjoyed myself. Even the little bistros were fine -- I had some wonderful French onion soup (minus the bread but with the cheese) and did not feel restricted in the least. Have a great trip. Kim.

Welcome to the forum, @SuzanneL! Which tTG was that? tTG-IGA? tTG-IGG? Were there other celiac antibody tests run from that blood draw? Was total IGA measured? By some chance were you already cutting back on gluten by the time the blood draw was taken or just not eating much? For the celiac antibody tests to be accurate a person needs to be eating about 10g of gluten daily which is about 4-6 pieces of bread.

I've recently received a weak positive tTG, 6. For about six years, I've been sick almost everyday. I was told it was just my IBS. I have constant nausea. Sometimes after I eat, I have sharp, upper pain in my abdomen. I sometimes feel or vomit (bile) after eating. The doctor wanted me to try a stronger anti acid before doing an endoscopy. I'm just curious if these symptoms are pointing towards Celiac Disease?

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. It must be really frustrating and uncomfortable. Have you talked to your healthcare provider about these sudden sweating episodes? It might be helpful to discuss this with them to rule out any other underlying issues or to see if there are specific strategies or treatments that can help manage this symptom. Additionally, staying hydrated and wearing breathable clothing may provide some relief.
