Dapsone Dosage And Side Effects

So my DH finally flared up to the point where I needed to try the drugs. Usually its manageable with steroid cream, but its been crazy lately, to the point where I wake up scratching in my sleep.

He put me on 100mg/day. By the second day I was having blurred vision, dizziness and some other odd effects that had me rather freaked out. I'm on the small side, I'm 5'1 and weigh about 130lbs.

My question: What dosages are people on, and what side effects do you have?

PS: I'm gluten-free, but recently lost weight, which is what I think is causing the flare-ups. I'm having no Celiac symptoms, just the DH.

Many years ago I started at 100 but had to reduce almost immediately to 50 because of white cell count changes. Eventually I ended up at 25 because that controlled it. I can't say whether dapsone is causing the problems you're having, but for many people 100 just isn't necessary. Especially if you're gluten-free. I'd try no more than 50, and maybe even 25.

      Enlarged lymph nodes in neck and groin with celiac are not uncommon. They can take time to reduce even after going gluten-free. Monitoring is key.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
