Anyone know which products are safe. I want to dye my hair and put highlights but i dont know which ones are safe. I want like an brown color with light brown highlights.

I get my hair done at the salon. Since my stylist is the one to touch the color and since she washes it out afterward, I don't worry about it.
If I were coloring at home I'd be more concerned.

Loreal makes some that are safe. There are other companies also. It is especially important if you use a level 2 color that washes out gradually to make sure it is safe. Most companies will tell you if you call.

I use Waterworks. They contain no ammonia or peroxide, either. They are easier on your hair. I get my dye at Sally's Beauty Supply. These are henna dyes, however. You cannot use those if you use a straightening iron, because it will make your hair fall out. So could using a dye with gluten, though if you have DH.

A quick warning about henna, if you have used any haircoloring either permenant or wash out do not use henna until after it has all grown out. You could end up with some real interesting colors otherwise. If you have never colored you hair before from what I understand henna is great though.

Dear ravenwoodglass,
My hair was its natural color when I dyed it with the henna. You also could lose your hair if you switch dyes. I think no matter what, people should do a patch test. My mom and grandmother were both hair dressers. There are things you need to be careful about!

I know that Loreal Feria is gluten-free. I called and spoke to a woman there who told me there are "no gluten ingredients whatsoever" in it.

As far as I know, my dye is safe. I like it because it does not burn your nostrils out, either! I cannot stand those chemicals they put in some of them! It feels like your lungs inhaled fire! The Waterworks smells like watercolor paint. That is bearable!

I am not sure if they have any highlight kits. They might. We get a select number of products here. It is difficult to say. I am going to pick up my dye soon. I will look and see if they have any.
