Yay Fage!

It IS daunting, but, trust your own body and its reactions and only search for the answers YOU need. Everyone's experience with this "condition" is not the same. "...just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in....."

Good health to all,

lisa

I'm going to copy and paste an email I received in October 2009 - I am in Canada - not the US

.....

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Danone has only 1 lines of yogurts that contain or may contain gluten: Activia.

Some Activia flavors contains gluten and nuts, consequently, even if we do two complete rinsings between flavors, its may contain trace of nuts. This is only for the multipacks. On the other hand, the 650g containers are manufactured on different lines (no cross contamination possible between flavors).

The Activia 650g: plain, vanilla, strawberry and prune are gluten and nuts free.

All the other Danone product are gluten and nuts free.

As a guideline, we always write on the ingredients list if a yogurt contains gluten or nuts.

You can be assured of Danone's consideration for all comments and questions from its customers.

so im eating my breky this morning and i bought my self some dannon activa yogurt, ive been eating yogurt from the health food stores with no probs, but this morning i have gone to the bathroom twice allready. now im reading some conflicting stuff on the web about this yogurt but i did find a site that states it is no longer gluten-free as some of the natural flavors may accually have gluten in them. anyone have problems with this brand of yogurt. im lactose intolerant and yogurt is one thing that i can handle without having to take a lactaid so im hoping that its just this brand as yesterday i ate my stuff from the health food store with no problems.

Why is that so different from their website?

Q: Is Dannon yogurt gluten free?

A: We no longer use the term gluten free with respect to our yogurts. Instead we separate our products into gluten safe or not gluten safe categories, depending on the specific brand of Dannon yogurt. Dannon Plain yogurts (Lowfat, Nonfat and Natural) and Dannon Plain Activia (in the 24 ounce container) are all gluten safe. However, all other Dannon yogurts cannot be designated as gluten safe because we do not specifically test every ingredient or the overall finished product for gluten.

Q: Is DanActive gluten free or gluten safe?

A: No. DanActive cannot be designated as gluten safe because we do not specifically test every ingredient or the overall finished product for gluten.

I eat Yoplait. It says "gluten-free" right on the container with no wiggle words anywhere.

Dannon has more than one website depending on what country your in. That may account for the difference.

I go with Yoplait or the Wegmans brand also.

I did try Fage and it is good. I think it is better than Dannon Greek so I will do Fage from now on.

Yoplait Light is marked gluten free on the container. I think I'll stay with that.

I just found Dannon Activia Desserts. I emailed the company and have yet to get a reply. I have a feeling the yogurt I bought will be going to my co-workers. I won't take a chance given what I have read.

Danon's site answers Activia question as of Oct 2010: Open Original Shared Link, under Danon Cares, Gluten is a protein found in wheat, oats, rye and barley.

Some people are sensitive to gluten and must eat foods that

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?
    • Aussienae
I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.
    • trents
What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
