Do I Need More Tests?

Hi,

I have not had the full Celiac panel done but my GP ran a t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA test which came back negative (Result was 7 which falls between the 0-19 limits).

I've read that this "endomysial antibody is superior to other current antibody tests and should be used in preference for the diagnosis of celiac disease."

I have no symptoms. My doctor wanted me tested because I'm Irish/Norwegian/German and my DHEA was low. She's been adament about getting me off grains even before the test. (I was NOT gluten-free when I took the test, though. I knew that would screw it up.) I have no idea if I need to see a GI doc and do more tests. I do seem to be tired a lot and I break out in hives and rashes occasionally.

Any opinions, advice and/or insight anyone has would be appreciated.

Two suggestions from me:

1. Get the full celiac panel (5 blood tests, I believe).

2. Try the gluten-free diet (strictly) for two months or so, and see if it makes any difference.

      Trying to read my lab results

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

      What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
