THis coming August I am spending my 21at birthday in Portland. We will be there for 5 days and as I am flying I can't bring stuff like I do when I drive. So I am looking for places with relativly cheap food and am even hoping to find maybe a bakery.

Portland Oregon?

Here's a link to a blog that contains gluten free restaurant information.

Yay Portland! For my money there is no more gluten-free-friendly city in the U.S.!

I've even heard of little bars w/ gluten-free microbrew on tap, tho it was temporary in the case I'd heard about. (About to run out)

I'm sure the link someone else put up will mention this, but ya gotta go to the gluten-free fish place there. There are 2 now - same owners. Corbett Fish House & Hawthorne Fish House. Rice flour is and always has been used in the batter.

Hi! I loved Portland, Oregon, PinkTulip. I was suprised at how friendly the city/area is to Celiacs. However, they have a strick thing about people who are not 21 being in bars and the bar area in restaurants, so, until your birthday be aware of that! Here is a link to my posting about my trip there with where I shopped and ate at: Open Original Shared Link. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the recomendations. I actually won't be drinking because we're on convention and it's a no-drinking policy.

THe ting that worries me the most is quick meals, as I often only had a little over an hour. Though dinner a few times we have (supposedly) 4 hours. Though I found a place 20 minutes by car to a sandwhich showp that has gluten-free stuff so I'll be cutting it close but hopefully can make it.

Mine is definitely triggered by inflammation and stress! I do also have arthritis in my spine, but the pain is more in my pelvic area. Im sure i have other food intolerances or other autoimmune isues but the more I focus on it and see doctor after doctor, it just gets worse.  Best thing is get of Gluten! (I also avoid lactose). Try to limit stress and anything that causes inflammation in your body.

Good morning,   I got an email about replies to this post. Some of my doctors had blamed a slipped disc for the pain I had and that contributes, but after meeting with a gastroenterologist AGAIN and trying some lifestyle modifications, I found out I have IBS and can't tolerate corn or excessive fructose to any degree. Cutting out corn AFTER having cut out all gluten containing products was a real pain but I feel much better now!

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.
