Yesterday I went to Smitty's in Regina (where we always stop for breakfast/lunch). The lady was kind enough to heat my rice bread for me in the microwave before our meal arrived. The accidently put toast on my plate and she asked "do you have a toast allergy?" I said yes, so she said "we'll go make another one". And sure enough, within a couple of minutes I had a fresh plate with the toast on the side. She came with the new one and said "Well I don't want to get you sick!".

Now why cant ALL places be like that?!

hey i love smitty's i order an omelete w/no toast, and fruit cup, and bacon instead of the hashbrowns and they dont charge me for the bacon. the waitresses are really good there and understanding. albertsons is good to they brought me out the ingredient listing to everything on their menu. so nice when you get great service. i leave the waitress a little extra when they are good that way.

I didnt tip, but I did give them a huge thank you more than once!! They usually offer to toast my bread or whatever, but I explain I can't share a toaster. So i guess from now on i'll just get them to warm it up, knowing that they'll do it :). I think we'll be going back more ;). Even better I'll be living in that city in a few months

Going to Smitty's for dinner tonight (in Winnipeg) for the first time since my dx. Can't find a # to call ahead (it's a brand new location and not yet listed). Does anyone know what (if anything) is safe on their menu?

Thanks,
Jillian

P.S. -- Lisa, I am a HUGE hockey fan too! I've been playing for 20+ years (I'm 26) and watch HNIC whenever I don't have a game myself :) We'd be rivals though lol I grew up in Toronto and am (unfortunately) a Leafs fan! Cheers

gluten-free since July 8, 2009!
