Anything breaded will have gluten.

Ian's makes gluten-free nuggets. They also make gluten nuggets, so be careful when you buy. I buy them at Wild Oats.

Bell & Evans make the best gluten-free chicken nuggets...BY FAR! They taste just like the Tyson nuggets. My son wouldn't touch the Ian's chicken nuggets. Not to offend those who like them, but they taste similar to someone wrapping a stale corn tortilla around a piece of chicken. :ph34r:

My favorite meal is homemade nuggets. I take equal parts sorghum, buckwheat, and millet flours and pour in a bag. Cut up breast meat chicken, soak in buttermilk for 10 mins. Then toss in the bad, shake, put in a skillet with some hot olive oil (just enough to cover the bottom) and cook, turning, sprinkling salt, pepper, and garlic powder while they cook.

If you do it just right, they get a killer crunchy crust on them. Very delicious. I make a garlic mayo dijon mustard dip.... (drooling)

hi, basically anything with a breaded coating is going to have gluten, i just bought some gluten-free bread crumbs and make my own now. you can get the crumbs from this site, i havent found a store that carries them yet.

just thought we should be nicer in our responses, we all made mistakes when we first started. I ate cheerios the entire first week i was "gluten free" because i didn't understand the concept of malt yet =-D

I am sorry. I was not being mean. I am still new at this too. But Mc D's was my daughters favorite food and was told NO WAY it is way contaminated.. Didn't mean to yell. I meant it as a warning.

Really, I am truly sorry.

P.s. you should look and find out if there is a ROCK group where you live. They have been wonderful help and support for us.

Would there be a reason the grilled chicken salad at Burger King would not be okay? The heated packet the chicken comes in says "contains soy," and all the dressings are Ken's that I have checked out online and read the labels for.

There are mixed reviews about grilled chicken at McDonald's because of some sort of marinate or filler or something, I can't remember exactly. I haven't heard anything about the Grilled Chicken at Burger King though, the risk of CC would obviously be extremely high. Might be worth checking out though!

Whole Foods, but my regular grocery store (Giant Eagle) has them right there in the regular freezer section. So look. you might be surprised.

I was recently informed that in Canada Mcdonalds uses corn for breading their McNuggets. Anybody else hear of this?

This is from the McDonalds website in USA. The McD Canadian website is hard to figure out, I simply wouldn't count on it being different. There isn't any way I could figure out to get menu ingredients on the ".ca" site. I thought I had found it once and my browser crashed. I found a page that talked about fat content and info for diabetics, but not anything for allergens or ingredients.... Maybe you heard that they were fried in Corn Oil?

Chicken McNuggets® (4 piece):

White boneless chicken, water, food starch-modified, salt, seasoning [autolyzed yeast extract, salt, wheat starch, natural flavoring (botanical source), safflower oil,

dextrose, citric acid], sodium phosphates, natural flavor (botanical source). Battered and breaded with: water, enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, niacin, reduced

    • Hi, Ok good advice and I am sincere when I say how much I appreciate a lot of the responses, advice and encouragement that have been posted here. I'm not sure what a nutrionist is but a dietician (here in the U.K.) is a heavily regulated medical profession and my dietician is based most of her week in a hospital where doctors and MD's as they are known refer patients to her for help. She works every day with celiacs, dh sufferers and people with crohns, ibs etc and seeing my skin, listened to what I was saying (particularly about how my redness and blisters resolved on a gluten free (though not wheat free) diet for several years, and sent a report to my doctor/MD requesting a battery of tests - tests that can indicate dh, celiac and associated complications. I also have a friend with a wheat allergy and two with celiac (all diagnosed) and they are encouraging me to go ahead with getting these particular tests. So that's great but reading the above quote that suggests that situations like sharing an oven used to cook gluten-containing pizza, should not cause a gluten reaction. I thought, my god what's the point of going through these tests if my recent reactions aren't actually to do with gluten. Although my dietician is concerned about possible dh and has been through years of medical school, I also really trust the advice of an advanced member on this site and if they think oven-sharing shouldn't cause any gluten reaction, what hope do I have with an MD? It has taken me years to pluck up the confidence to ask for any medical help because I feared that sort of response along with a focus on psychological issues and hormones etc early on in the thread (even though, I only started feeling depressed since yesterday). Actually, I'm a mental health nurse so it's good to see people are alert to these issues but I am also pretty familiar with depression and I know that many people with physical health problems are fobbed off by doctors with talk of depression, stress, and hormones. I'm sorry that I took the (above) quote to heart and I know that I allowed that to colour my perception of the whole thread, which has been helpful in many ways.     • I thought maybe doing a trial period to see if he reacts positively to being gluten free and then adding it back to see if symptoms come back would maybe be helpful to the doctor? But I guess that's true, it might skew things regarding any future tests that might be warranted. 
    • If you haven't had her tested yet please do not go gluten free. Get the celiac testing first as if she does feel better gluten free when she has to go back on gluten for testing she may have much worse symptoms.  There will also be a higher risk of false negatives.
    • I did not mean to imply that you should put him on a gluten free diet.    If you suspect a problem with gluten, please get an opinion from a GI who is celiac savvy.  All celiac testing requires a patient to be consuming gluten.  The slightly equivocal TTG?  That warrants a gene test at the very least.   http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/it-mmfiles/Celiac_Disease_Diagnostic_Testing_Algorithm.pdf
