Hello Everyone. I just got back yesterday from a magnificient trip to Mexico. I was so worried about going away since this was my first vacation since being diagnosed in February. I stayed at the Ieberostar Paraiso Lindo in Riviera Maya, Mexico and I couldn't have asked for a better trip! :D When I checked in I asked for the woman who I had been emailing with about Celiac. She was not working at that exact resort but they knew who I was and asked me for a list of foods that I could not eat. I handed them one of my restaurant cards and then I went to my room. About 10 minutes later, there was a typed letter that was slid under my door. They had written up a whole letter in Spanish explaining how important my food allergies were. They also told me to bring the letter to all of the restaurants and the chef would make me a special meal. I did as they said and NEVER got sick!!!!! I could even eat at the buffet and there were so many wonderful foods to choose from. I was so excited. Anyway, I couldn't wait to share with all of you as I know how exciting something like this is and wanted to give everyone a vacation option that you know will be safe. It is a 5 star resort so it is not as cheap as some others but is completely worth it. It's all inclusive so you don't have to worry about spending any money once you get there either. The resort is only one year old and is absolutely magnificient. Let me know if anyone ends up going there. I am on cloud nine that it was so easy. Makes me not so afraid to go away on vacation anymore!!!!! :P

How fantastic you that that experience. I was interested as we are going to Puerto Vallarta in February with our family, but will be staying in time shares and eating all over the place. My granddaughter and I both will be eating gluten-free, but my son and his wife have been there before, so I really don't have to worry as they will be looking out for us wherever we go. My granddaughter has had celiac disease for five years (I was just diagnosed gluten intoleranct recently) so they are very up on the whole thing. I don't drink, so that isn't a problem either. Maybe other people will respond to this thread with other experiences they have had in Mexico.

Barbara

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
