Perhaps this is a silly question but, are Digestive Enzymes safe? Are there any side effect to taking them? Are they safer than say tums?
Thanks!

They are safe if they are gluten-free. Make sure you get a good gluten-free brand. My favorite is Pioneer Brand Digestive Enzymes and Herbs.

I haven't had bad side effects from taking them, but I know others have. don't know what they side effects are though.

They work different than Tums, so I wouldn't compare the two. Digestive enzymes work best if consumed at the beginning of a meal. Tums tend to be taken much later once you are experiencing indigestion/heartburn type symptoms.

God bless,
