Hey there!

Just wondering how many people on here are from Louisiana? I live in Baton Rouge.

If you are from this great state, post a quick note! It would be great to meet you!!!

1/07 Gluten free after being severely ill and fatigued for a straight year and GI issues since teenager.
2/07 Negative blood work but phenomenal results on gluten-free diet.
2/14/07 Found to be critically deficient in vitamin D.
10/27/07 Dairy free due to being sick last two months.
10/28/07 Son, 9 yrs old, began elimination diet due to tummy issues and behavior issues.

Also dx with Fibromyalgia but not 100% sure i have it anymore now that I am on gluten free diet. Could have been Celiac all along!

Gluten free is the way to be! I feel soooo much better!

Hi! I'm in New Orleans :) I haven't been diagnosed with Celiac but I am gluten intolerant and have some other food sensitivities. Its hard being gluten-free in such a culinary center especially where they put roux in EVERYTHING!!!! I've been gluten-free for almost two years now so I've normalized to it but I wish I had friends who ate this way. Sometimes I feel like an alien at school when all my friends are eating the cafeteria food . . . most of the time their whole plates are covered in gluten! I try to tell myself that my food intolerances force me to eat the healthy diet that everyone should be eating but sometimes I really feel like the odd man out.
Pre-diagnosis misdiagnoses: endometriosis, migraines, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis
Diagnosed April 2006 with multiple food sensitivities (gluten, yeast, eggs, cow dairy, legumes, some nuts and veggies) and a systemic candida infection -no pre-diagnosis symptoms since!

Hi!

I am from Thibodaux, LA. Found out I was celiac/intolerant in July 2008. Kind of diagnosed by my OBGYN when I went in for my annual visit. Would love to meet up with others from my area who are also celiac.

There is a support group in Baton Rouge. email is celiacsbr@aol.com

I have not made any of the meetings yet because it is a two hour drive into BR for me. They have these on weeknights, and I leave for work way too early (6:00 am) to be getting home so late. I did talk to Mrs. Mary on the phone in January and she was very helpful and informative. Gave me a list of Doctors to contact in BR that are familiar with this disease. I am in the process of scheduling an appointment to see the doctor in Baton Rouge now that I am off for the summer!

Hi, we're from Pierre Part (about an hour from BR) and I think my 3 month old may have Celiac disease. He was gaining weight on a gluten-free formula, and stopped gaining weight on a formula with gluten. His pediatric gastrologist isn't too big on the idea of testing him for Celiac though. Any suggestions for a doctor that would?

Hello! I'm also from Lafayette, La. Dx'd myself after feeling like I almost died after
being on a Sugar Buster diet for 2 weeks! I "glutenized" myself! That was many years ago when I was about 37. Took about 4 more years to get serious about the diet and even now I still cheat.

The most startling symptom after going gluten free was my lack of brain fog. People always thought I was ditzy. The brain just didn't work correctly. Unfortunately, because I took so long to diagnose myself, I definately have bone density loss.

I'm gonna make that Baton Rouge meeting one day!

Kris

At 35 had low bone density test.
At 37 one son and myself became extremely sick on a Sugar Buster diet. Diagnosed self then.
About 42 actively started to read/learn and attempt a gluten free diet.
Diagnosed middle son by stool testing about 2 years ago 2008. +
Diagnosed older son by stool testing about one year ago 2009. +
Still have one son left but I know he's +.

Hey, I'm from Loranger, LA. Diagnosed with Celiac in Oct. 2005. Suffered for 15 years before being dianosed. I'm celebrating 5 years of gluten-free lifestyle. :D My children say they now have a new mom.
