Best Celiac Shopping Lists/guides?

I've seen that the CSA has a shopping list/guide for $20 (last updated 2003), and there's one at www.clanthompson.com for about $6. I saw a 2004 one on ebay for $4.95.

Are these guides worth it? Are there other ones? Which one is the best? Or do you all just do your own research?

Thanks!

There are some Clan Thompson lists, too....you can get previews, kinda, or buy the lists...updated annually.

To be honest, I don't really like using lists, so I'm not the best person to answer this. I would give you the link to the latest 50 page adobe file list...... :D , but I have it as a favorite place on AOL, which hasn't been working for awhile (so I'm checking by aol.com...etc.).

Here is the direct link to the list I believe celiac3270 is referring to.

I use this list and a Gluten-free Casein-free guidebook I bought to help me narrow down our choices. I find this list the most helpful for mainstream products. You still need to be reading EVERY label on everything you buy, but this list is free and it will get you started on figuring out what you can eat. I've heard the CSA book isn't worth the money.

I have the Clanthompson list downloaded on my computer. It has a lot of useful information. The only problem with it is that I can't take it with me to the grocery store.

;) I purchased the book and still found myself looking at every label, because companies change the ingredients, processes or whatever. The book was helpful for telephone numbers and website, but to be honest with you, don't waste your money. I took the book out for the 1st month after being diagnosed, and not since.

Thanks for the great online list and for the advice not to buy one!

I go shopping with the glutenfree list to which Mariann posted the link. I printed it out, put it in a folder and take it with me to Giants and WalMart. Nobody ever said anything.

I have tried the delphi list, mac list, csa list, and clan thompson list. They are all helpful resources since sometimes one has information the others don't. However, I agree that carrying them all into the store is a pain. I purchased the Clan Thompson program for a palm pilot and found this much easier and quite helpful. So if you have a palm or can purchase one this may help. I was also able to download a lot of other lists of gluten-free information into the palm, too which makes traveling easier. Hope that helps. This is the link for the palm program:

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
