I was wondering do you think Corn Chips served in a mexican rest. are gluten-free? What about corn tortilas? Forget about asking the waitstaff...when you ask if they are wheat free/gluten free you might as well be asking if the moon is made of cream cheese.......

Depends on exactly what they do to them and if they fry them in a dedicated fryer. You have to ask.

You can't know without asking. It's that simple. I go to a local restaurant run by native Mexicans and there's ALWAYS somebody there with enough command of English. If your waiter doesn't understand, ask for the manager.
