starch, pregelatinized Raw starch does not form a paste with cold water and therefore requires cooking if it is to be used as a food thickening agent. Pregelatinized starch, mostly from maize, has been cooked and dried. Used in instant puddings, pie fillings, soup mixes, salad dressings, sugar confectionery, and as a binder in meat products. Nutritional value is the same as that of the original starch. See also starch, modified.

It indicates that it is mostly made from maize (corn). So, if this is derived from wheat it is required by US law to list wheat as in "pregelatinized starch (wheat)". I don't believe that malt, barley or rye would come into play here. So, my conclusion would be that it is safe unless there is an allergin warning indicating wheat.

Medication such as birth control are not required to list allergins. What is the name brand? Who is the manufacturer? Others here may know and if not, you need to call the manufacturer.

My pharmacist told me that all drugs, prescription or not, manufactured in the US are supossed to be gluten free. However, drug companies cannot and will not verify that gluten has not come in contact with thier products. Drug manufacturers may get other ingredients used in thier products overseas and they are so afraid of lawsuits that they will not guarentee that their product is 100% gluten free, only that they have not, to thier knowledge, added gluten to thier products. This is very interesting because I have been glutened by 2 different anti-depressants made by 2 different drug companies who claim they have not added any gluten to thier products.
Myself & 2 children (when they were ages 20 months & 4 & I was 28) diagnosed celiac in July 2005
All Gluten-free since July 2005
My mother & 1 sister diagnosed celiac in December 2005
same sister diagnosed with IBS March 2006

1 other sister self-diagnosed celiac in February 2006
2 other sisters & 1 brother have not been tested yet

My 3rd child is gluten free, but we are not certain he is celiac
